jimoshel Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Acquired this abandoned baby this morn. Got a '93 5.7 going to fill that empty space real nice.
HOrnbrod Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 And here is exactly the way you should built it: http://www.nagca.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43454
GirsMJ86 Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 So... the 5.7 is going to be taking up all that space and the cab is going to be mounted back there instead of the bed? Interesting, can't wait to see the build.
jimoshel Posted September 20, 2013 Author Posted September 20, 2013 And here is exactly the way you should built it: http://www.nagca.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43454 Pretty much what I got in mind. Got a complete '93 ZJ been rolled for donor. Got a trailer I built back in '80's sometime with a '47 Jeep bed on it i'm going to use.
mpace6a Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Pretty sure there wasnt a 5.7 option in the ZJs, but a 5.2 and a 5.9?
jimoshel Posted September 21, 2013 Author Posted September 21, 2013 Brain fart, or typo, not sure which. Meant 5.9
Pete M Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 apparently both. since the 5.9 wasn't available in a 93 ZJ... :D
Oyaji Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Buckaroos, if y'aint seen his vid of the rolling frame on the last page of his build thread, well, y'oughta - it is a thing of beauty: . I've always been a perfectionist and hard to please, so I think it takes a lot to impress me. Welp - he blew me away. Only possible flaw I noticed is the way he attached his towers to the frame for the front springs and shocks - and he came up with a nifty double-tube over-the-engine brace joining the towers to make up for the weakness. Seems to me he could have trouble where he welded the towers to the frame - I am curious as to how they will hold up to abuse, if the deep curves in his double-tube brace connecting the towers will prove sufficiently stiff or will flex, and if he will need to add gussets to beef up both them and the frame welds at the tower bases later. . But ye gods! what attention to detail and concerns often overlooked by builders!.
BIGHEEP Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 apparently both. since the 5.9 wasn't available in a 93 ZJ... :D Yep, the 5.9 was only available in the 98 Limited. All other v8 ZJs came with the 5.2.
jimoshel Posted September 21, 2013 Author Posted September 21, 2013 Put on my slippers, grabbed coffee cup, walked 1/2 mile and popped the hood. It is a 1993 Grand Cherokee with a 4.0L, AW4, 4WD. DUH!! So what in hell happened to my V8? :dunno: :hmm:

But ye gods! what attention to detail and concerns often overlooked by builders!. That build is absolute perfection. Marcus (Gojeep) is an Aussie (as you can tell in his narration) and has forgotten more about Jeeps than I'll ever know. He has an excellent site here: http://gojeep.willyshotrod.com/ I asked him why this project, and he said he has run out of mods for his XJ and wanted to do something different. I love the way he restored bits and pieces from both the Willys and Grand and incorporated them into this build. I offered to swap trucks when he was finished, and I'd even pay the freight for both vehicles, but he politely declined.
Comanche County Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 GoJeep's build is awesome, but hey, old and rusty is cool too.
