Fraggy Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Hey guys, I was going through some builds and saw some people with LED headlights. I started looking around and found them for a great deal on EBAY. $390 shipped http://www.ebay.com/itm/Truck-Lite-27450C-Single-Rectangular-LED-5-X-7-Truck-Jeep-XJ-YJ-Headlight-/360719948850
HOrnbrod Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Great. Why don't you buy a pair and give us an eval as compared to Euro H4s?
yellaheep Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Never understood why those are so damn expensive. They're a road-stone away from throwing $400 away........ Hard to justify, and kinda odd looking too.

Hard to justify, and kinda odd looking too. That is the best deal for Truck-Lite LEDs. Those usually go for $500+ for the pair. A road-stone isn't gonna mess them up. They are made from some kind of impact resistant glass. They are legit military-grade. When I worked in the motorpool, I used to upgrade any old Humvee lights with Truck-Lite LEDs. If I had the $$ now, I would be buying these for my XJ. There are a few threads about these and they have great reviews.
Butchershop Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Hard to justify, and kinda odd looking too. Anyone have a picture of these installed?
HOrnbrod Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 This seller claims his truck has Truck Light LED headlamps. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=271269501303&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en#v4-42
johnj92131 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Frankly I am sold on European Ecode lights for the street and highway. Add a relay kit and you are gold for highway lights
H3RESQ Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Reason has them on his MJ. I saw them in person, look great, work great. I also have a couple friends running the round version on there jeeps. They work great and one has a original set of the the 7 led style rounds. Still in great shape and all the LED's work. They are the bomb.
HOrnbrod Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I have H4 Ecode Hellas with the relay harness. If the LED headlamps can put out a similar lumen rating and comparable light pattern using less than 25% the amp draw of sealed beams, I would be interested for sure. I know they are very popular on motorcycles. I'll have to look at the specs. If I got a set it would be the round ones for the JK first. The lights really suck on that.
CRF136N Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Thats my mj on ebay with them installed, yes they expensive and yes they are well worth it. I have run several different setups from halogen to HID, these blow them all away. Primarily because of the concentration of the light output, it is so precise and even with a firm cut off line that doesnt blind oncoming traffic (the DOT approval isnt all bad either). I did a clear bra material over the lense for additional protection, and it is some high impact plastic. I actually originally purchased them for the lifted black xj in my avatar parked behind the mj, for both light output and less draw for running the additional roof lights off-road, but opted to remove them as the xj is a wheeler (ok, project in progress...but I do plan to wheel it once I get the cage in) and my concern was not rock chips on the way to the trail but those random trees that get in yer way on the trail resulting in those all too familiar battle scars...too costly to replace the LED's vs. a PIAA halogen conversion setup with inexpensive HID. I got comparison pics somewhere with these LED headlights vs. HID vs. halogen if anyone really wants me to post them...just going o have to dig a little for them.

The firm cutoff line on the Ecode Hella H4 housings is one of the things I really like. Good to hear the LEDs might be similar. I for one and I'm sure many other members would love to see real world comparison pics between the H4s and the LEDs. Personally not interested in the HIDs. Thanks again.
