henky Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Hi everyone, first things first, sorry about my bad english, but forgive me! almost a year ago I bought a comanche trough this forum, and had it transported to europe... this is how it arrived, at my friends place in CA.
henky Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 this how it got to the harbour, very happy its finnely happening..
henky Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 below is how we picked her up...first time real live!
henky Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 at last it's there! afther 4 months, I parked it for a while in CA at my friends home, to collect some parts, it's cheaper to send them with the car..
henky Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 a lot of things were already done by the privious owner, the 97 swap, lift etc.I bought it with a bad paintjob, so I had to take it apart and repaint it again...first i removed the bed, there was no rust found! looked perfect!
mvusse Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Congratulations on your new toy. I have never seen a rust free Comanche around here... On a side note, I was born and lived in the Netherlands until I was 16 and we moved to Canada.
henky Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 well rustfree is something else....but the frame looks great! I did put a new coating on it and put on new rear shocks, also put on new brake lines.
henky Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 changed the miles for kilometers and repainted the orange arrows...
mvusse Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 That's a Ford 8.8" axle. Stronger than the stock Dana 35 it probably had, but a bit narrower also.
onlyinajeep726 Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Welcome from across the pond, henky! My mother is from the Netherlands. Glad to see a fellow Jeeper in Holland. :D Good looking MJ too!
henky Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 that's right it's a 8.8 already done in the US...got some spacers to, so no problem..
Alexia Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 It almost looks like a twin of RockMJ's MJ! How hard was it to import the MJ to Nederland?
jbain Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I bet people stare when you drive down the road......
henky Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 Hi, guy's First there are a lot of people with dutch background around here.... It's quitte a pain in the a.. To import a car from the us, first I had to arrenge shipping to a harbour, a container, shipping to Holland, Pay a lot of tax 21 procent of carprice plus transportcosts. Next is, get it legal here...but it is almost taxfree for driving because it,s from 1987 (oldtimer) ha ha! People will be staring at the car, because the mj was never imported here...the xj is well known around here so thats easy for parts.. Tomorrow i,ll post more pic,s Grtz from Holland!
expeditionnw Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I miss it already! Henk, thanks for doing a thread so we can follow the next phase of the build!
