Dealership (Stealership) Rant

So Monday I bought a 08 Dodge Charger R/T from a Ford dealership the test drive went great the engine was running smooth and the car is in great over all condition. But when I was handed the keys to drive off the lot, it would not start. They lent me a 2013 fusion for the day (with all the bells and whistles it was cool) and when I came back they discovered it had a slight problem with the ignition system and a module dealing with the smart key had to be replaced by the local dodge stealership and they would cover any and all costs to get it running properly. So Tuesday morning they take it to dodge, I come back that afternoon at 6 and the guy I have been working with was on the phone with the dodge stealership (I could hear most of the conversation) he informed me that dodge did not look at the car yet but they would in the morning. So this morning I call dodge and was redirected around the service department 3 times before someone would tell me the status of my car, "we haven't looked at it yet but we will this afternoon". Called dodge again at 4pm and same as be for only "we will have it done by tomorrow".

The dodge stealership has a bad customer service reputation as you may have guessed. And in the last year or so they changed the name of the place but use the same slogan but replaced the old name with the new one...

The only plus side to this is the ford dealership thus far has let me drive pretty much whatever I want. Don't get a fwd Jeep patriot they are scary as hell to drive in the rain. And the 07 fusion actually drives very well on the interstate... I also haven't had to buy gas this week, which is nice...

But hopefully I will have my Charger tomorrow! I really want to play with the HEMI... Err, I mean the "better" mpg over the WK...

Yep, had I bought a Ford and the ford dealership waste 3 days would have, But it's the pos dodge stealership that's sitting on their hands. A while back i took my jeep to them for an oil change and they took 2 hours to change the oil in my WK and it was the first one in!

Ford has done everything I have asked. Thankfully when I do eventually get the car back I have another Chrysler dealership an hour away for future repairs (hopefully not). I haven't heard anything bad about that one. But there's no telling..

I really should get some sleep...

Confucius say:

Don't ever buy a Mopar product from a Ford dealership, A GM from a Mopar dealership, or a Ford from a GM dealership, or any combination thereof.

Buy a Ford from a Ford dealer, Gm from GM, and Mopar from Mopar.

Happy vehicle owners stick with the same company to trade in. Unhappy owners try something different.

I missed the bold print in the quote the first time... You are right, I should have.

Yep. If it can't drive off the lot for any reason and I have not yet even officially left the lot, I'd be leaving without it... And finding one somewhere else.

I heard it just the other way around. Always take your Ford to a GM or Chrysler dealer, etc, etc, because they will be extra nice trying to win you over to their brand. :dunno:

The 2011 Fusion and the 2012 Mazda 6 that I rented on two occasions just ate up the highway miles. the 4-cyl in the Mazda would really S and Get while returning almost 30 mpg.

Well my tapatalk app for the iPhone won't post anything, I tried about 15 times last night and more today. Final got to my windows computer.

Dodge found the problem this morning and have ordered the replacement parts. Ford is paying the bill.

Till I get the charger, ford is letting me drive whatever I want on the used lot.  Tomorrow I am swapping the fusion for a supercharged mini cooper, I hear they are a blast to drive.  But at the moment I am not buying the gas so it works out for me.

I did not buy a dodge form the dodge dealer because no one that I have ever spoken with likes them (that dealer), and none of the other dodge dealers had what I wanted.

  • 4 weeks later...

I bought my first Comanche from a Chev dealer. They made sure that my '86 (Molly) came to just under $1000 with tax so I couldn't scream lemon law. I laughed because they wanted $2500 before that, but the clutch didn't work (out of fluid) and the hose to the map sensor was cracked (black smoke/horrible economy) and the seat was black as tar (originally red) My son took a day to scrub it clean with upholstery cleaner.

I sure hope this is not a sign of things to come. I think I would've looked for something else to buy after all that.
