onlyinajeep726 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 What automatic did they use in '88 for the 2.5L?
chrissin712 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Hmm Been looking for a clean truck but wanted a 4.0/5 spd. How are these 4 banger autos? This is clean, local, and a great color/condition for swapping a 97+ swap. (Already have a black 2000 Classic for parts)
Automan2164 Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 4 banger auto is just that. Moves like a 4 banger, with an auto. I imagine it's perfecr for just cruising around. Just as bulletproof as the 4.0L. Rob
rmoore1031 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Is it an AW4 or A904? Thought it would be A904 since its on the column. Either way, it looks great.
johnj92131 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Is it an AW4 or A904? Thought it would be A904 since its on the column. Either way, it looks great. My 91 has a column shift AW4 from the factory.
GirsMJ86 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 AW4. A904 was '86 only IIRC. Rob Rob is correct, the A904 was dropped after '86 along with the 2.8L. Took out two birds with one stone the following year.
rmoore1031 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Sorry for getting off topic, but how can you tell the difference between A904 and AW4 column shift? I have seen multiple column shifts and thought that meant A904. Ofcourse, driving and listening for shifting would be easy. But I mean how do you tell on a non running MJ?
Automan2164 Posted June 26, 2013 Author Posted June 26, 2013 Easy, if it's not an '86, it doesn't have an A904. Rob
