jimoshel
Got a lead on a '93 explorer. 40K, 4wd. It's 40 miles away so would like to know if it will work for axle swap before driving that far. Tried search. No useful info.
onlyinajeep726
It may or may not have an 8.8 and even if it does, it will most certainly have drum brakes. http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/Explorer8_8.html

jimoshel
Got it. $300 and a 80 mile round trip. 4.2 V6, 8.8 and auto, 4wd. 41K miles. Was just going to do a axle swap but after hearing that V6 run going to do a complete drive train swap into a '87 MJ.

Keyav8r
I had a 4.0 V-6 Ranger with a 5 speed, think it was a '93. Good engine and tranny but I had to put a clutch in it at around 100 K miles. My son-in-law bought it when I got a GMC and he put another 80 K on it before trading it in. No experience with the Ford auto or 4WD. You coulda done worse, Jim. jimoshel
Got a new idler pulley and serp belt on it. Been driving it all over the neighborhood. Sucker runs good. Gonna see if I can't swap it straight across for a Jeep before I part it or sell it..

jimoshel
Carfax says it's 141,XXX. TNX Don. I pretty well knew it wasn't 41,XXX when I first looked at it but since I only wanted the rear axle I never worried about it.

ComancheKid45
Technically with a build date of 8/93 it would make it a 1994 Ford Explorer ;)
