my parents have a 10 year old Electrolux dishwasher that's on the fritz.  no paperwork (it came with the house).  will only fill with water at the very very first click of the dial (rinse/delay) won't fill at any other setting.  but it will think it's filled and starts to make all the other noises.  will run fine if I manually fill with water.  drains fine too.  I'm ready to set fire to it.  :fs1:

looks like you guys are right.  I pulled out the switch then cleaned up the contacts as best I could and it seems to work again. :dunno:

we're running a load of clean pots to verify it does a whole cycle.

I was gonna say I know a good amount of girls...

but yeah, sounds like the switch.

Just thought you'd like to know I'm still laughing at that..

Wow! My wife cooks and I wash dishes and I did an admittedly terrible job. Her Mother bought us a Maytag dishwasher more than ten years ago, and even with me pre-washing the crystal still looked terrible. We wound up buying a Kitchenaid brand and she loves it. Washing dishes for me is a small price to pay for the $$ I spend on my Comanche. :dunno:

I'm not a fan of dishwashers.  I've had 3 (or at least lived in a place that had one), and I would constantly have to rewash stuff before using it anyway.

I prefer to wash them by hand.

If you have to rinse or wash the dishes before putting it in the dishwasher, IMO the dishwasher is worthless.

I need to figure out the brand we had in my last house. Even three day old caked on spaghetti sauce or oatmeal bowls came out sparkling clean.

We have a Kenmore, and that thing rocks. Our old one was just that, old, and never did a good job. Never got clean, water spots for days, caked on scale... Angela would end up rewashing most of them. As Marcel said, this one will do the same thing... And if it didn't, it would be pointless.
