Anyone Got Ideas?

Recommended Posts

Alright I have a 88 Comanche that had a ba/10 in it. And as you probably guessed it met its demise. Unfortunately I couldn't find an ax-15 for Decent price so I went with an aw4 out of another Comanche. I did the engine harness swap but the problem I am having now is it won't turn the starter over. All my relays come on along with instrument luster but it won't turn the starter. Did I miss a safety switch somewhere? I know the neutral safety switch on the trans could be the culprit but I'm worried there is something else missing. Any help is appreciated.

Try it in Neutral. If there is a problem with the switch itself and it won't start in Park, Neutral usually still works.

I believe the engine harness to actually be the same between the two, but don't know about the transmission harness that plugs into it near the center of the firewall/oil filter/dip stick.

Not trying to point out the obvious, but you will also need a TCU. Although even without a TCU it will still work, but you will have to shift it manually with the gear selector, and the torque converter won't lock up.

There is a dissassmbly and cleaning procedure that can be done on the nuetral safety switch. It will cost you little or nothing and will be one less thing to worry about if it isnt the problem.

No fooling. Might as well do it now.

OP, do you have reverse lights?

Okay so I know when people go to auto to manual there is a two pins somewhere they bridge, it has something to do with the NNS. So I'm thinking maybe it could go in reveares like you need it for it to start...maybe someone else can better explain what I'm saying.

When you swapped the engine harness did it come with fuses and relays or did you have to swap them over? If it came with fuses and relays have you tried swapping over all your fuses and relays from your old harness into the new one to make sure it's not a blown fuse or bad relay?
