And how it was when I got it. 1988 pioneer SWB blue 4x4 Rough country 4.5 in the front SOA with 9 inches of lift in back Original 4.0 engine with block warmer KPH odometer listed at 169,000km 2001 cherokee d30 1988 cherokee d35 1991 np231 Trans????? Major bondo work to the back left Minor body work has been done to from left Figured out it has been laid over on passenger side. It has a huge dent/ crease on the corner top of the cab/roof. Trans lines were pinched and patch from where the upper control arm mount must have shoved into them when it laid over and a dent in the oil pain from the same time. Here is the car fax report Hmmmmmmm learned something’s here…. -- Was born in CANADA! -- no structal damage.....uhhhhh not true haha. It has had to have been in at lease 2 wrecks and been profesionally repaired, and then laid over once. --2wd (which I figured it had to have been converted at some point in time.) ---And STOLEN!?!?!?!!?! It was reported as stolen from the original owner and then a few months later was issued a salvaged title due to 'damage'. knever3 Posted March 3, 2013 Share Posted March 3, 2013 The carfax report only shows the accidents/repairs etc. that are reported to a dealership or insurance company. The "Normal" repairs or accident related things go undisclosed so you really can't rely on this alone. Think of how many times you smashed up a car and just decided to fix it yourself? gogmorgo Posted March 3, 2013 Share Posted March 3, 2013 Carfax gets their info from whoever's willing to sell it. Not all shops keep detailed records, not all shops sell them. Lots of stuff goes unreported. On another note, it's quite likely a good chunk of the damage on it happened when it was stolen. A good portion of auto theft in Canada is kids going joyriding. Jeeps are allegedly easy to steal, and thus are common targets. The XJ was the most stolen vehicle in Manitoba until six or seven years ago when MPI said enough was enough and simply refused to insure/register them unless they had an immobilizer. dasbulliwagen Posted March 3, 2013 Share Posted March 3, 2013 The 86 XJ waggy I got for parts didnt come with a key. I took some channel locks and just turned the ignition with them... broke all the tumblers and was able to turn it to unlock the column in order to steer it on and off the trailer.
