Comanche County
I got a call from an elderly lady and she needs help with her Comanche. She's in her mid 70s and still drives a 5 speed MJ! She had two spare MJs, I bought one last year. I told her if she ever needed help with it, then to give a call. Anyways a year later, she called me last night and said she needed "the little lights by your head". She said the tabs were broken off and they don't work and that her tail lights were not very bright anymore. Where was it that sells new B Pillar lights? Does anyone a decent set of tail lights they'd let go of? .....and no I'm not trying to scam someone out of some tail lights. Her husband owned a feed mill and grainery company but she's widowed now, thus she owns it. So she could be driving a brand new caddy if she wanted. But she loves her MJ, I tried to buy it from her too but she wouldn't sell her baby. She said she'd pay a reasonable price for some good tail lights. I've got two sets, but they're kinda dull. I figure we ought to be able to find her some nicer taillights and some new B Pillar lights. If we can get these sent to her, she's got plenty of employees that can install them for her. She doesn't own a computer, I've got her address and phone #. That's her and her MJ on the right.
Exgrayxj
Just was looking for this yesterday ... The lights are Euramtec, some on Ebay now, $16 each, slightly different in switching and operation, but claimed to be the cat's a__ otherwise. For a while they were offering something to CC members, forget what. Free shipping or discount or something. If they are not broken the lenses will polish out. More likely bulbs are dim, either dust inside or bad ground. 2nd edit Flint 54 was thinning his taillight collection a little while back.
jimoshel
I would be cleaning first before replacing. Sockets, grounds, lens plugs, etc. Often amazing what removing the ground screw, use emery, sand paper, brillo pad, on the surface and connector will do. shelbyluvv
There four different listings for them on Ebay. I was looking at them yesterday. They are listed as Comanche b-pillar lights, Hummer H1 courtesy lights, Bass Cat boat deck lights, and universal flip map lights. Also if you click the aftermarket sales tab on Euramtec it sends you right to their Ebay page.
terrawombat
I'm pretty sure the trim pieces still need to be modified a bit to fit the Euramtec lights. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...
Biotex
I'm pretty sure the trim pieces still need to be modified a bit to fit the Euramtec lights. Someone correct me if I'm wrong... The Euramtec lights come with a bezel. If you install the bezel, you will need to open up the trim hole just a tad. Makes for a nice fit. If you don't use the bezel, the light will still snap into the hole, but will be a loose fit and you will have a very slight gap. Not anything objectionable. Pretty much so - - - On my 89 MJ the light unit snaps in & fits tightly - No visible gap - looks nice - when turned on a hairline crack shows at the top - really not noticeable except to a nit picker like me - - I'd try sans bezel 1st to see what's what - - - - I put these in my 87 as well & used the bezel - No biggie except you gotta twist around in the seat a little to use whatever you cut with - - also, it's kinda hard to service after the bezel is installed - I swapped in LED bulbs after awhile & found that everything fits TIGHT, I mean the lights fit the bezel tightly - Good stuff - gotta be careful removing - - - - Also made some jumpers using 18g to make things a little easier - - Male spade end(shown) has to be narrowed slightly to fit MJ plug & then Pink to A - Blk/W to B & Blk to C - - - Pic of installed looks skewed because of camera angle & spot of light is from the flash
neohic
Depending on if she wants a factory look or not, these might be another good alternative: ...Turns out that the cargo area light for a 1994 S-10 4 door Blazer fits right into the cut out on the B pillar. I just had to cut off the GM connector and install 3 blade type crimp connectors. To make them fit, the blades had to be narrowed to fit into the Jeep connector. The connections are Orange to Orange (Hot), Black / white to Orange / black (door switch ground) and whatever the other two are (unswitched ground) goes through the switch built into the GM light. So they both come on with either door, by rotating the dash light switch and by turning on the switch on either light. Cheap and easy!!! Here's a pic of the new dome light Image Not Found I really like the looks of them and I like that they have a separate switch to operate rather than just pushing around on the light itself. Comanche County
I've got Euramtec lights ordered and being sent to her. She called me again and also needs a fuse block/harness.
