1987Comanche Posted September 9, 2023 Author Posted September 9, 2023 Labor Day weekend was a big one for Georgia. I took her on a 900 mile road trip to Ohio to help a buddy start converting his '92 2WD XJ to 4WD. My trip souvenir was the 161K mile engine from the '96 XJ parts truck. Georgia ran like a champ though I wish I had working AC on the trip home. It was hot!
1987Comanche Posted September 9, 2023 Author Posted September 9, 2023 The donor '96 had terminal road salt induced cancer and was crumbling. Oddly the doors & front fenders are perfect . She was destined to be an organ donor:
Salvagedcircuit Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Wow, that jeep needs a tetanus shot
1987Comanche Posted December 4, 2023 Author Posted December 4, 2023 Had an odd one I had to track down. I was hearing a loud rattle but only at startup or shutdown. Turns out the weld on the exhaust hanger broke free of the pipe. As the hanger was a U shape the pipe was intermittently contacting it. Welded it back together and problem solved.
Drahcir495 Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 Nicely done with rebuilding the stuff on your own. It was great catching up on your progress
1987Comanche Posted December 15, 2023 Author Posted December 15, 2023 Quote Nicely done with rebuilding the stuff on your own. It was great catching up on your progress Thanks! She's a fun driver and we're closing in on 320K miles
1987Comanche Posted December 24, 2023 Author Posted December 24, 2023 Giving Georgia some Christmas TLC and trying to get a handle on the interior water leaks. First up the seam sealer on the cowl seams was cracked or plain MIA. Cleaned it all out and put in some fresh 3M Dynatron seam sealer. Some of the factory panel gaps were unbelievable!
1987Comanche Posted December 24, 2023 Author Posted December 24, 2023 The hood to cowl seal and door seals were all in tough shape too. Now they're all new:
pizzaman09 Posted December 25, 2023 Posted December 25, 2023 Some awesome progress. I spent most of my Christmas day working on my MJ as well since it is unseasonably 30 deg warmer than normal today.
1987Comanche Posted August 10, 2024 Author Posted August 10, 2024 Been a while but she's been earning her keep. My other car was in a multi-car pileup. Took Georgia on a 400+ mile trip last Saturday to get a front end.
