Kenosha Warrior
I was cooking my dinner, nukerizing some porkchops and potatoes while watching TV. Pop the plate in the nuker just as the dodge avenger commercial comes on. Sweet looking car. Sweet-@$$ looking car. I left my fork on the plate for 30 sec at 1400 watts  THEN I don't realize it and grab the nicely superheated fork. but the new Avenger sure looks like hot $#!& Sunday sleep-deprivation ahah, 6am work time.. Pete M
Just like Adam on Mythbusters! He went to grab the nuked fork or spoon and I actually said "no you idiot!" to the TV. Apparently he didn't hear me in time.
jpdriver1
grabbed a hot header pipe at we-rock in feb, as one of the rigs was turtled.
CWLONGSHOT
I watched a buddie weld a bumper bracket to a bumper on a old Ford I had. Wen he finished one side, he told me to roll it over. So I did... a bit before my brain could tell my hands that metal was hot...  My skin pulled off just like a hamburger on the grill that gets turned over to quickly!!! NOTHING hurts like a bad burn..... CW
Kenosha Warrior
Yet another stooopid thing. Went pick'n'pulling today. Covered maybe a good 100+ km's. To about 10 different yards, looking for 305 chev and jeep parts. Got home and I stepped out of the heep and right into antifreeze. Odd. Pop the hood and W.T.F. Pissing Prestone all over the damn place. I thought it blew a hose, but it was pouring out from the water pump pulley. GREAT! After the first 3 yards, I heard a small squeeking, like a bearing gone bad. Thought nothing of it, my idler has a bad bearing. I drove 75+kms with a screaming water pump bearing at an average speed of 100kph. Ive got no time fo the next month to do anything, first day off in a while. So its off to the shop for the pump. I wish I could do it here, but its first car into the shop tomorrow morning at 8am, so I should have it back tomorrow or thursday.
Oizarod115
naaahhh man, waterpumps only take ~3 hours start to finish first timer-ing it. they're gonna charge you to take the rad out, and dissasemble the front clip most likely.
Pete M
I changed a 4.0L waterpump on the side of the freeway in maybe an hours time. If they say they have to remove the rad, they are lying or idiots, either way I wouldn't let them touch my truck.
Kenosha Warrior
Ive worked with these guys before. I let nobody touch my rig. Nobody except these guys. One is a former Jeep mechanic from back when they were still AMC vehicles (like waaay back) the owner of the shop owns a couple'a FSJ's and a '88 XJ which is his DD. If they didn't have other cars on the pavement, Id swear its a jeep-only shop. They will install lift kits for you too. labour is $55/hr cdn, which is reeely good.Ill post pics of what happened when I get down there tomorrow. Its a reputable shop, and I'm so bogged down that I can't take time to change it. I know they won't take the rad out to do it. I already told Daniel that there's no way in christ you can dissasemble the front clip anyway... its mostly JB welded together. I get it back tomorrow afternoon. Walking is doing me good though, prefect time for this to happen, really. March break, no school. nothing to do and the weather is beau-ti-ful. and the plus is it'll cost me maybe $125-130 which is a good chunk but not that excessive. JeepcoMJ
i had to take out the radiator on my 2.8 to get the free space to work. well, not HAD to. but I was learning and felt that it would free up some space for me to work. and i was right. with the 3.8 camaro i only have to remove the serpentine. nothing else need be removed to do it :D
razrwild
Water pump is one of the things I did to mine when I got it. 3 hours start to finish, just a little cramped in there. I don't want to have to do it again lol
gogetemturbo
I watched a buddy of mine finish welding up an engine cage in an xj, and he told me "What out for that...it's hot" Teasing me...2 seconds later I lean over to look at something on the fire wall...and rested my forearm on the still glowing spot he just welded. I ended up with a 6 inch long 1" wide or so 3rd degree burn on the soft skin of my forearm...Total moron moment...
87manche
we've all done it. I got finished grinding the snot out of something, and then less than 10 seconds later just grabbed it with my bare hand. 2 lessons learned: don't be a moron Wear gloves in the shop. jeepmarine312
i was upside down welding the body of a dirt track car in shop and when i went to stand up put my hand directly on the molting metal that dripped down onto the floor, burned a literal hole into my hand, inch deep, inch wide, and the metal then solidified and fell out, i was left with a 3rd degree burn into my hand, docs freaked out, haha, but yeah it freakin sucked... jimoshel
Fella was watching a welder do his thing on a part. Welder finished and removed the ground lead. Guy picks picks up the part and immediately drops it. Welder asks him "Hot?" Guy replies "Nope. Just doesn't take me long to inspect a weld." :rotf: :rotf:

airspeed
Years ago when the kids were little we were sitting around on Christmas eve talking about Santa Claus. Daddy how is Santa going to come through our fireplace? Gas fireplace with glass front that had been burning for 4 hours. I leaned over and pretended like I was looking up the chimney, Oh he can get through there. Then I lost my balance and my forehead came in contact with the glass, I couldn't pull back fast because there was nowhere to put my hands. The kids thought that was funny and my son was amazed the spot I left on the glass. To this day I still hear about that... I avoided all Christmas pictures that year.
