Goose Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 After I changed my clutch master cylinder, I've had a rattle at the same rpm in every gear, around 3-3500rpm. I cannot for the life of me, find the rattle. It's loud, and only does it when in gear. Won't do it while parked. Sounds like a f#*@ing woodpecker.
88mjgilley Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 is the line off of the master cylinder vibrating on the body?
cruiser54 Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 is the line off of the master cylinder vibrating on the body? That's where I'd start. How are your motor mounts? Sometimes coincidences happen.....
'87 fuel-miser Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 exactly what happened to mine ... the line was hitting against the lower firewall , hard to see , but just enough to drive ya nuts ! :MJ 1:
Goose Posted December 22, 2012 Author Posted December 22, 2012 Motor mounts are good. So what did you do to fix the issue?
Keyav8r Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Split a piece of hose and wrap it around the line where it contacts the firewall/frame/etc. for a quick and easy fix. you could try bending the line to clear, but there's a chance you might put a kink in it or break it. If those are the original brake lines they're around 20 to 25 years old and could be easily broken.
Dirteatr717 Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 I put a new hydraulic line in my truck a couple months ago and it was a tight fit, my motor mounts are shot and when I turn right when releasing the clutch it bounces off the firewall/ tranny tunnel. Drives me nuts!
Biotex Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Just get some "adel" clamps and some self tapping screws. Not sure how accessible it is to get a drill down there, but might be doable from underneath.
