Clutch Pedal Popping

When I am releasing the clutch pedal I hear a popping sound and I can also feel it. I has been working fine and noise free, it just started making this noise this morning. The clutch is still working fine and the truck still drives, runs and shifts fine it is just making this noise when releasing the clutch. Does anybody have any ideas on this? My Mj`s specs are:

Did you poke your head under the dash to see if the pedal to master cylinder connection is loose? Missing clip?

While you've got your noggin under the dash, look for a cracked weld on the pedal itself where it attaches to the tubular pivot area.

Yeah thats what happened to me- broken weld.

Mine broke on both my trucks, I'd be looking for a spare set, even if it's not the problem now.

Nah, i got a welder in the garage.

Mine was popping like that when I first got it,ended up being a broken spring in the clutch master cylinder.

I got it fixed today. The problem area was where the master cylinder linkage and pedal assembly join together like 87warrior pointed out. There was alot of play in this area due to broken/rusted hardware. I removed said hardware and replaced with metal washers and it is now tight and noise free.
