jimoshel
How in holy begezas do you, I, remove the pulley from a power steering pump?. Is it a press fit or threaded? 2006 Dodge 1500, 5.7 engine. HELP!!!!!
Pete M
if it's anything like the pulley on my 97 chrysler minivan, the pulley itself isn't expected to ever come back off. The new pulley pressed on to my new pump with the supplied attachment bolt.
Alexia
With a pulley puller! It has a collar that slips over the center of the pulley and nudges it off.
Pete M
not my van. its pulley is made of plastic. it just breaks when the puller is used. :(
HOrnbrod
That truck should be using a Saginaw pump. The pulley is pressed on w. no nut. The Autozone puller should take it off and it's free to borrow. New pulleys are cheap too. http://www.autozone....omString=search
jimoshel
A puller was the first thing I tried. It just pulled 3 chunks out of the metal hub. Anyway it's a moot point now. Busted the plastic off and left the metal hub on and turned it in with the core. New pulley cost $15. Wish I'd just done that in the first place and saved myself an hour of frustration. Had a Allen head in the shaft which made me think it might be a screw on. It wasn't. I'm getting to old for this sh*t.,,,,,I been saying that for the last 20 years. One of these days I'm gonna quit...... How cold is it now in Hell?
Pete M
It probably did screw on. just not off. and for the record, I'm half your age and I'm to old for that kind of prank on do-it-yourselfers. :fs1:

jimoshel
It's all back together and working OK. Rebuilt pump an new pulley. Flushed the system. Can't believe the crap came out of it. Everything except a pair of Maggies drawers. Think I bent the handle on my 20 ton press squeezing that pulley on.
jimoshel
?????WTF????? GF drove her Dodge into town today. She was so happy with it she baked me a pan full of chocolate chip cookies. The Dodge stealership guesstimate on it was a $1000 and a week. I saved her $900 and 3 days down time and I get $5 worth of cookies? Repeat the first line
