88whitemanche Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 Thanks zack ill take a look into the tbird coils
jeepmarine312 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 yeah i can see that, but then again it is way way way cheaper haha, its really up to what you wanna do, if you aint planning on going crazy crawling then the drop brackets should be good, but if you going crazy crawling then id suggest the long arms. but thats just me.
92tanMJ Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Thanks zack ill take a look into the tbird coils I got mine for like 120 bucks at the junk yard, but that also included a set of leafs off an s10 and my yard always over priced. But you should really check it out. I really like mine. When I lift my mj I'm going to go that rout
jeepmarine312 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 i got my kit for 265$ today, and I'm trying to put it on and its kicking my a$$, may take me like 3 days to get it on,
88whitemanche Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 Yeah I bet...I had an attempt for the first 3hours then while trying to take my first coil out my truck was in the bushes and on its brake rotors luckily nothing happened but I took it to my mechanic and about 150$ later my lift was in and ready to ride....I was by myself and limited with tools so it wasn't easy to put in
88whitemanche Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 Got an update guys had a feeling to go to the junkyard today and picked up 5 turbine wheels with 4 center caps for a 170$ maybe too much for my taste but well worth it will be mounting them when I get a chance to and also received my brown dog motor mounts
88whitemanche Posted April 25, 2013 Author Posted April 25, 2013 Thanks man they are hard to find I was actually going to the junkyard to pick up some d-windows the. Some idiot took one out of the four that were there!!!!! So me and my bud decided to walk around the see if they stuck the rim somewhere else and came across these turbines and grabbed them without hesitation
jeepmarine312 Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 nice man, good grab, I'm still trying to get the two other center caps for the steel rims i have, and gonna get my new tires on them...
88whitemanche Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 Another update I clean the aluminum valve cover put a fresh coat of black paint and a new 98 valve cover gasket and a oil change and the trucks purrs and hopefully no more oil leaks lol Also will be putting the turbine wheels on tomorrow Thanks for looking guys
jeepmarine312 Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 nice man, that should help, make sure that was the only leak though, i know thats where mine is leaking from, but it aint bad at all... lol. i mean any leak is bad, but its one that is barely noticable unless you are looking for it 100%. also those wheel are nice, they would be better black IMHO but yeah haha
88whitemanche Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 By far it seems that was the only leak my last recent one was my rear main seal and the slave cylinder going out....
jeepmarine312 Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 oh dang, that must have set you back a few thousand pennies hahaha
88whitemanche Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 Well not that bad...mechanic charged me about 350 to do my clutch and rear main seal...plus parts about 130 so not that bad but it hurts when loving paycheck to paycheck
88whitemanche Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 Got an update guys put the turbine wheels on the truck they push the tire more inwards and the tires are starting to rub on the control arms on full turn...well enjoy the pics. Before After
jeepmarine312 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 go to the auto store and pick up some wheel spacers, they will push the tires out further, giving her a wider and sexier stance, and also stop the rubbing, i plan on getting them once i get my new tires and rims put on.
88whitemanche Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 Yeah I've had a set from the parts store but the biggest they had were 5/16th thick plating I was thinking about going online to get a set of four
jeepmarine312 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 i know there are some 2" ones on the advanced auto parts website, should work good
92tanMJ Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 No don't waste your money on the spacers unless you want them for looks. Just go get some washers and add them to your steering stops.
jeepmarine312 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 what you mean zack? any pics with explanation would be awesome
92tanMJ Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 You just take normal washers, unscrew the steering stop on the knuckle and add them and then screw it back in. http://www.4x4xplor.com/steerstop.html
88whitemanche Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Yeah that is awesome I am for sure going to Home Depot tomorrow to buy washers for that steering stop I'm not sure if its bumping that but ill do that anyways
jeepmarine312 Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I'm still gonna do the wheel spacers, but thats because i like the look of the wider stance... but that is also a good fix...
88whitemanche Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 I like the stance to but I wouldn't feel right with spacers...then I would've just stuck with the last set of rims I had that made the truck look stout. I like the factory look but if adjustments would help then ill stick to the factory rims
