Knucklehead97
update time guys. The owner of the one I posted, has a guy from Tennesee coming Thursday to look at it, so he said I can't come unless he doesnt buy it from him thursday (I'm assuming he's paying more then I am, I'm not paying a ccent over 3200 though.) So I may be looking at this one tomorrow http://bham.craigslist.org/cto/3379920839.html It seems to be good, if the guy really did restore it comepletly, and did the job half decently. I'm hoping its got the right transmission and is 4wd cause I'd rather pay 18 for it then 32 for the other one (if it's even still there thursday) Either way I'm hoping I can go inspect it tomorrow, and I'll keep you guys updated
gogmorgo
It's an inline-V6? I hope this guy didn't do the restoration... I'd be careful about someone claiming they need to sell a car at half it's worth due to finances. Make sure there are no liens on it if you do buy it. Knucklehead97
Already planned to check everything twice. But the guy hasnt emailed me back. I'm hoping the one from Rainsville doesnt get purchased by the guy from Tennessee -.-

Knucklehead97
I talked to the guy about the super cheap one, it needs a couple tranny seals and he's selling it for 1275 now. I turned it down cause I really don't want to mess with anything involving the transmission  I'm still hoping on the Rainsville one, but I'm not going to know for sure till Friday. If not then hopefully another good one will come up by December, after that I've got to start looking at other trucks because I have to have one before January so I'll have my own vehicle when I get my liscense. If not a Comanche I'll be looking a Nissan Hardbody extended cabs, not nearly as good but still a reliable truck to have as my first. But fear not I'll still be on the search for a Comanche to build into pure wheeler since I'll already have a DD  Never going to give up on finding one. Knucklehead97
I know I seem bipolar for this probably. But I thought a bit more about the cheap one, and have decided to talk to the guy more about it. If everything else is good (will be making a VERY thorough search if I go look at it.) Then I might feel like messing with a tranny seal. The guy said it'll be 150 to fix, but I'm not sure if thats for just the seal or for a shop to do it for me. I really just don't want to buy a different truck, I havnt even gotten a Comanche and I've already got the bug :fs1:
Comanche County
Don't fret the seal. There's nothing on a Comanche that can't be repaired with basic tools, patience, and quality guidance from your friendly CC brethren.
Knucklehead97
Well I called the guy and all I can say is that he's honestly not the brightest person ever, and I'd rather not do business with a guy who wasnt even sure if it was an inline or a V-6. He called it a inline first, then a V-6, then a inline again. And was actually asking me questions about Comanches.
gogmorgo
That means you can tell him all sorts of things and convince him the truck's worth waaaay less than he's asking ;)
Knucklehead97
True :rotf: But it also means that all the restoring he did to the truck, might not be to great. If it had been a 4x4, I'd have talked longer. And if I wasnt buying on the brink of winter, I'd take the time to swap it to 4x4. I'm to picky
Dadinator
Take your time and be picky. Get the truck you want, not the first one that comes along. You will be way happier in the long run.
Knucklehead97
Well the guy from Rainsville sold the really good one :fs1: Really sucks cause that one was the exact Comanche I was looking for other then not being a LWB. Still searching, but also researching other trucks. Hoping another one like that one will come up soon. Knucklehead97
ftpiercecracker1
This is a list of all the Comanches available in Alabama. At least the ones that are listed on Craigslist. http://auburn.craigslist.org/cto/3330213687.html http://bham.craigslist.org/cto/3379920839.html http://bham.craigslist.org/cto/3280066261.html http://gadsden.craigslist.org/ctd/3387803642.html http://gadsden.craigslist.org/cto/3346585825.html http://dothan.craigslist.org/cto/3346689941.html http://shoals.craigslist.org/cto/3326575471.html http://huntsville.craigslist.org/cto/3340569489.html
Knucklehead97
Thanks for posting up the Craigslist results! Saves me the trouble of getting on there with my slow internet  The first Gadsden one (the only new one I hadnt seen) is right up the road from me, and is a good year model with seemingly everything I wanted (4wd, I6, 5-speed) It seems it got bumped in the rear passenger side part of the bumper which I'm hoping is just a bumper problem and not a frame or bed dent too. Also it has 207 K on the motor, I'd rather less, but if everything works. I'd pay the 14 for it. Interior doesnt look the best, but it's a 22 year old truck. I'm going to call the guy in the morning, and possibly go check it out this week if it sounds decent  Knucklehead97
shawn
the thousand dollar "hunting truck" is by far my fav in that c.l. list from ftpiercecracker1. bring $800. over there and bring home a good truck.

ftpiercecracker1
Thanks for posting up the Craigslist results! Saves me the trouble of getting on there with my slow internet  Knucklehead97 My pleasure Knucklehead, I sometimes do searches on craigslist for comanches at random places in the US just to see whats out there. I have found some absolute steals, but they are usually 1000 miles away, literally. I found one some where in FL, i think, guy wanted 14K for it  , but it was uber niiiiice. Imagine a Comanche fresh of the assembly line with every offroad add on you could want.

Knucklehead97
Well nothing new on the search. But would any of yall happen to know anything about a 97 Cherokee? My brothers won't crank, even though the batterys charged. I tried to crank it the other day, and the starter turned once, then I heard a soft pop and all the electronics died. I'm thinking we blew a fuse, or the ignition switch went out. Opinions?
Knucklehead97
Hey guys. Sorry I fell off the face of the earth for awhile  But I'm back, still searching for the Comanche. And I found one I'm probably looking at this weekend, and purchasing if it's good. http://chattanooga.craigslist.org/cto/3433326704.html I called the guy, and he said he'd hold on to it for me till this weekend when I can come look at it. It's a longbed (main thing I love about it, after the fact its a 91) He said theres one small problem with the transmission, he said that you have to put it in first gear, then swap it to drive and it'll swap gears. He just said that it won't swap into first by itself. Do ya'll know what that could be, and if it'd be expensive or hard to fix? Thanks Knucklehead97
gogmorgo
Looks like a decent truck, although the tranny thing is interesting. Could be as simple as a fluid change or... yeah. But 3k is a bit much for a truck of that age/mileage with a tranny that doesn't quite work.
