ftpiercecracker1 Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Has anyone tried to do dual ford taurs electric fans? I have my entire engine bay stripped out and will be puting in a stroker, new radiator, and converting to the open system (for simplicity sake). Dual taurs fans would make for one hell of a cooling system. I was just would like to know if any of you have experience with them, before i start on this project. What year, make, model taurs? thanks
Jeep Driver Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 If it were me.......I'd just go aftermarket.......for the sake of clearance. Cost is $140 for two plus wire and relays. I really like the soft-start or graduating controls but that is about $140 too. SPAL
mnkyboy Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 I don't think Taurus fans would work very well with the 4.0l radiator, that would be a good swap if you had a 2.5l
HKB3 Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Taurs fans work really well in mustangs, the problem with the MJ/XJ is the small radiator. I still think the taurs fans would be ok. Just my $.02 worst case try them and if they don't cool it you can always sell them.
87Warrior Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Don has an excellent write up using two OEM XJ electric fans. You would need some heavy AWG wire to run two Taurus fans. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=8342&hilit=electric+fan
SW86 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 i had a taurus fan and sold it because it was way too much hassle to get it to work in there. you'd really have to butcher it up but yes, they are very awesome fans to use. TJ guys love them because unlike MJ/XJs they mount perfect in there,,,, upside down :shake:
ftpiercecracker1 Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 thanks guys, i will keep thinking on this project as the engine is still a long way away from being done.
