Yeah, I'm from a rural area, the same thing really. Just about everyone stops to help someone else out. In winter especially, you driving past could mean someone makes it home in a wooden box. Cell service is patchy at best, and on a cold winter night there are very few people out and about... I once drove 70 miles down the busiest highway in the area without seeing a single other car.

My truck's not equipped for much pulling, but I'll always stop. Then again, I also pick up hitchikers if I'm alone.

Yellow or white are OK in Louisiana, no rescue colors (red, blue, green, etc.). Real problem is liability. If you pull a guy out and he sues you for "damages to his vehicle" kinda crap.

I mean - some folks have tried to sue us for using our buddy bumpers to get them out (unsuccessfully - but still), so I suspect they would do it to you....if they knew who you were.

I have a red custom knight rider scanner light that does about 20 different patterns. It has all metal housing. I can dig it up and look at it, brand new and never been installed. probably wouldnt be too tough to change the lens to amber although its probably too small for what ya want. its plenty bright and is not one of those cheapos that jc whitney use to sell. This one sold for about $300 new IIRC

EDIT : here is a video of it that shows the patterns.

Its LED so no bulbs. I was thinkin one of these days when I get bored I may mount it inside above the rearview mirror and wire it in to my alarm system so whenever its armed the scanner would be on. Better than the little blue LED that came with it.

I guess I don't really like to call attention to myself...as a noodge. What with me doing alot of dope smoking and drinking while on the highways and biways.

I would always help someone in a pinch. Especially if they were a super hot chick wearing a rhinestone thong and loose fitting top...or just some hapless driver that didn't even have boobs.

I believe having strobe, flashing or rotating emergency lights on anything but an emergency vehicle is verboten in California...and rightly so IMHO. There have been creeps and rapists that pose as cops or tow truckers who've pulled women over and put something in instead of pulling something out!! Of course there have also been ACTUAL cops and tow truckers who've done the same. Can't trust anyone these days.

Yup help someone in need...return the deed. Pay it forward

Make sure any damage is owners responsibility, zero liability (might not be legal in court) but it is worth making the statement or no pull...simple.

As for the light bars IMHO...silly, for lack of a better word. Money could be put to better use for a removable cheap yellow caution light and a snatch strap.

Not only that, but I'd want somebody to take a second look at my truck because it's a cool classic Jeep, not because it has a stupid light that says

'Look at meeeeee"

The construction trucks are supposed to say "look at me." I'm trying to not say "look at me." I want mine for safety when offroading for my friends behind me who can't see through the dust and being broke down on the side of the road. Unlike some people out there mine is gonna be Offroad and emergency when I pull over on the side of the road. It makes me feel safer even though no one will see it or pay attention to. As for the "look at me" thing i don't care what people are gonna do or say about it! It's Mine!
