mnkyboy
We are currently building an 87 tin top at the shop. Its SOA on YJ leafs and 38.5" tires
cody4359
my old one. 1.6 or whatever stock motor is, header, webber carb, exhaust, 4.1 gears in tcase, locked in the rear, think it had 4.11 gears on 31"s. drove the truck for 2 days then put it back up for sale. completley guttless, carb's so it would spit and sputter on inclines, Very narrow/short wheelbase and almost rolled it on a simple down hill section. it i were to get another it would be a tin top with either a jetta TDI or sidekick fuel injected motor, stretch the wheel base and add wider axles, but at that point why not get a TJ
mnkyboy
They have a 1.3l SOHC 8 valve stock The one we are building has 5.12s and a 6:1 in the T-case its not fast but it turns the 38.5s pretty well. The guy has a 1.6l 8 valve tracker engine to put in it,but I have to make all the manifolds to turbo it first.
andrewspivey
Yup ! This is a 1985 model that we picked up at a farm equipment auction a few years ago. Bought it for $300 and drove it home 8) Rebuilt the transmission, swapped on some BFGs, installed camo seat covers, and gave it a sweet camo paint job one spring break :brows: haha Now it stays on the family farm. Great for working around the farm and driving trails in the woods during deer season. As when we brought it home. After my buddies and I got hold of some paint. Joop
My brother bought one last year. And he has, with some help from me, built it into a simple, good-looking yet capable offroad toy. List off things done to it: Calmini shackel-reversal with aprox 2" lift, lock-right rear, 31" tires, thick spacers on both sides, LR freelander fenderflares, OMP racing seats, 4point rollbar behind seats, power steering, homebuilt front bumper with winch, bigger alternator, fiberglass hardtop and a rattelcan paint job We where out wheeling along with a bunch of other people last weekend, and I borrowed it for 15minutes, 5 of thoose was driving and 10 was winching myself up again... I'm used to my LWB, low COG MJ's and just don't feel comfortable in rough terrain driving the zuki. Remember this is a SJ413 witch differs from the samurai by having EVEN NARROWER axles! But my brother drives this little rat like a champ, spinning and jumping in circles around stuck fullsize rigs, while pointing and laughing at them, asking if they need a tow or some winching. Future plans is a 4:1 transfer and swapping out the stock carb with a set of four GSX 750 mc-carbs. Some of my friends suzuki's: This one has a 1.3twincam that puts out 120ish hp and redlines close 10 000rpm! This one has toyota axles and a ford 2.9 v6. Pure trail-rig that performes very well. (still needs a Jeep to get unstuck :D )

Boots
When I went wheeling last weekend there were two guys at the obstacle course that each had one. One smoked like hell but looked like it was in descent condition. The other ran better but had no fenders and used 2x4s to hold up the hood. They were very entertaining to watch. They would get one stuck and then like two people would just push/pull/pickup them out. My friends and I thought it would be fun to get a couple and just throw on some descent tires and a cage and beat on them.

mvusse
Buddy of mine has one for sale. Starting to get too small for him and his two kids, so it got replaced by a Cherokee. Two other people I regularly wheel with (husband and wife team) each have one as well. Her's is running a VW diesel and has a 3K ATV winch that has never let her down yet. Comanche County
After my buddies and I got hold of some paint. I'm assuming that you and your buddies were highly inebriated when you painted this rig. That looks like a Pterodactyl flew over and took a crap on it.
Oddmodman
Well I don't have pics, but I bought one for 500 with a blown 1.3. Two rust holes where the interior meets the wheel wells. Bought a 16v Sidekick for 150 bucks for its engine. Already bought the mating kit, the only thing left before I start in on it is wiring. It'd cost me 300 to have someone do it, but I'd really like to do it myself, get the experience.
SW86
they are fun little things for sure. easy to work on because theres only basic stuff there. shouldnt be too hard to do most everything yourself with a little knowledge (and the internet) lol on a side note, i scrapped mine :rotfl2:
