going to paint the truck

once the weather gets decent I'm going to paint up the truck. i probably won't go all out (spray paint) but i do have a gun i could use. I'm thinking its a trail rig so why put a lot of time into paint that'll eventually get beat on. anyway my thoughts on color(s) is maybe

 

white truck with either blue or yellow accents. like 80s baja maybe?

 

just white with everything black

 

army tan with white star

 

leave it camo!

 

 

 

I'm still thinking on this so your thoughts on ideas or colors would be great

If your using spray paint I would go with a light color to hide the un-even spray that a can gives you. I have been looking into using the dupli-color automotive paint sold by the gallon for $35. It is either sprayed or can be rolled and actually comes out really well. It is an enamel paint so it gives you a hard thick kind of semi-gloss look. I found a guy in Georgia that painted his 70 Charger with it and it looked like a nice professional job and he said it is hard to scratch so it will stand up to a beating on the trails.

Enamel with a roller. Interesting. Have painted lots of vehicles w. enamel back in the day but with an old school Binks top loader gun. I would think if you used a roller, you would have to follow up with a wisk broom to touch up the cracks. :yes:

You have to use one of those foam rollers not a normal one you use to paint your walls. I thought the same thing when I heard about rolling a car but it actually came out decent. I would still prefer to spray it but if that isn't an option then rolling it will work.

if it turns out horrible with the rattle can job, ill step up to the gun. i just can't see putting that much time and effort into it when i know what it goes through. right now it looks like itll be white. not really feeling any other color. i still may do the 80s baja throw back. white with yellow (or blue) bumpers, roll bar, diff covers and maybe light covers.

i tried out some white spray paint primer on the half door and it did really well. no lines or uneven paint. i like how it will look but now I'm sort of thinking just going grey with it or maybe a silver/charcoal. anything is better than the camo at this point with me
