Harley Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Having an issue with a stereo. If anybody is a tech or knows alot PM me. Its not associated with comanches so I don't want to post a long thread on here.
maddzz1 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 You should post it in the pub. This will probably get moved there anyway.
Harley Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 Yeah, wasnt sure where was a good place to post it. Didnt think of the pub.
shelbyluvv Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 In the Pub, ask away. You never know what kind of thinking and answers can be brought up.
dfreeman616 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 i'm a tech and wiring/electrical is my speciality. what's up?
Harley Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 Long story short, aftermarket deck, new speakers, all wiring is correct and the sound goes out but otherwise the deck is fully functional. Even exchanged the deck for another new one with the same results. Its a 97 thunderbird. The stereo will work, turn the car off, come back an hour later and no sound but it powers up. Extremely confused! If ya need more details just ask
lostissues Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 short somewhere in the speaker wiring? may be throwing the radio into protection mode. if you can undo all the speaker wiring and then hook just one up and see if it works, then keep doing that to all of them until one cuts off the sound. or throw an ohm meter on the speaker leads and make sure they are reading the correct ohms.
Harley Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 speakers are fine. after it cuts out I can hook the factory deck up and it works great.
Burls Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Have you looked at the Aftermarket radio to oem plug harness? Maybe there's a bad ground there or possibly the oem radio plug has a loose pin.
knever3 Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 The factory radio isn't sensitive to ground shorts, most of them are common ground so what might make a new radio to quit playing audio won't necessarily cut out an OEM one.
Harley Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 Everything appears to be visually fine. Plugs are all in great shape. :wall:
