RynoMJ Posted October 11, 2011 Share Posted October 11, 2011 For some weird reason when I was about 17 I became obsessed with Comanches so the hunt was on to find one. In 2009 I worked as a valet at a local bar/club and one day a Comanche appeared there, the owner had bought it and was using it as a work truck around the bar's property. I got side tracked and my Comanche addiction subsided for the time being. Aboout 2 weeks ago I drove past the bar and see it still sitting there, I pop in and ask the owner if he wants to sell it. He said he wasn't using it anymore and so it was all mine. I plan on pretty much restoring it from the ground up with some mild modification along the way! It's an 89 LWB 4x4, 4.0L with the ba10/5 :shake: and some PO accessories such as a boot and a few hundred packs of cigarettes. We jumped it and she started right up, hasn't been on the road since 09'. I sent my trusty friend (what a sucker) into the unique smelling MJ, threw a plate on the back and drove her home. Made it home safe and found a spot for it in the driveway with the parts hauler. The exterior is in pretty good condition no body rot, frame is solid, rear bumper is smashed, I guess for some reason anyone with a stock bumper likes to backup into things? Her temporary home so I can at least keep it some what dry while I work on the interior. RynoMJ Posted October 24, 2011 Author Share Posted October 24, 2011 Small update been spending a lot of time getting the interior squared away. I tackled the rust. For a New York truck there is really no rust on this thing, even on the frame. Ripped down what was left of the headliner. It literally disintegrated. Laid down some primer. My plans for the floor And this package was waiting by the door when I came home. I've never really done any automotive work before so I'm learning as I go and its not my DD so its easier to work on. I do plan on lifting it and the goal is to get 35's. Went to work on cleaning the interior parts Got some misc. parts in the other day, the euramtec lights everyone on here is using and some plastic window cranks, I wish someone made something more substantial these feel like they are going to break. This is some annoying hole the PO cut, I'm not sure what I am going to do with these yet, finding replacements is impossible I guess I am going to have to put one big @$$ speaker to try and cover it. :fs1: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

My friend had his up for sale with a d44 and just sold it, there's also the $600 MJ with a d44 and 4.10s! RynoMJ Posted November 22, 2011 Author Share Posted November 22, 2011 Installed the thermocustic, had just enough to do the entire inside. And my new carpet came in. While I had the dash apart I figured it was a good time to install and new heater core to avoid a headache later down the road. While doing this I noticed a massive problem with the vaccum system as well as the cooling system. Most of the vaccum lines were disconnected including the one that ran to the front bumper :hmm: I decided it would be a good idea to replace most of the cooling system parts and do an open system conversion at the same time. So I ordered all the parts to do the conversion. I see where the big line connects to but not the little one? And no idea where this goes In the mean time I installed the new carpet, I didn't go with the mass backing I felt that was a little overkill. RynoMJ Posted December 5, 2011 Author Share Posted December 5, 2011 Been very busy with the jeep got all the parts to do the cooling system. Ended up getting a new water pump, t-stat housing and all new heater and radiator hoses oh yes and a Champion 3 row radiator! :D The housing and water pump were in tough shape! Much better. I had the inside apart so might was well do the heater core. Couldn't find a part number for this foam piece so the old one will have to do. I hate putting old parts back in. :roll: Back in.
