91coMANche Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Anyone got some Duratracs by Goodyear? I am thinking of getting some 31's. Looks like a mud terrain that is siped, which will help with braking and ice.
comanchekidwa Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 The Duratracs are great tires... We have sold a lot of them and haven't heard one bad thing.....
glundblad Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 My son has them on his Grand Cherokee. Lots of road noise. I had to pick his truck up from the airport the other day and needed to drive it about 45 miles. I would imagine they would be louder on a Comanche than a Grand Cherokee.
91coMANche Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 Well I did dynamat the entire floor and back of the cab with some butyl sound deadener stuff :) :) I am not that concerned about sound because I'll be adding more sound insulation to the floor and cab corners up to the headliner plus headliner insulation. What I want to know is whether they run true and track well. I've had lots of really well made Goodyears and lots of really poopy ones and even some that were completely out of round. I am obviously only going to buy tires made in :USAflag: but it doesn't have to be the Duratrac. I've had tons of BFG MT's and they aren't siped you literally slide in any wet condition. I've had SSR's and they are siped and stop well but they are too much for what I'll be doing with my MJ.
Rymanrph Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I have them on mine (in 31"). Haven't put many miles on them, but I'm really happy with them so far. They are a lot quieter than the 33" KM2s on my TJ if that gives you any kind of comparison.
xjrev10 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 All of our small fleet vehicles at the steel mine I work at have Duratracs on them. These trucks never see pavement and are around sharp blast rock and are spinning and pounded through potholes all the time. I never knew how much performance you can get outa a 2wd f-250 with a v8 when its not yours :rotf: The tires hold up very well and do not fail till they have no tread left. They run a 235/85/16 size in load range E. I plan to get them for my 88 2wd MJ and mount them to Mamba 16in wheels.
freakjeep93 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 we run them on our civi pattern f 250s at work they seen to de very well and there isnt much road noise.
91coMANche Posted March 12, 2011 Author Posted March 12, 2011 How about Authority? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Wrangler-Authority/11983156
glundblad Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 My son has them on his Grand Cherokee. Lots of road noise. Okay, let me put it to you this way. That Grand Cherokee is pretty quite. I could not imagine putting these tires on a Comanche especially if you need to drive the highway a lot.
xjrev10 Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Google search brings up all sorts of comparisions between the authority and the duratrac.. Buddy of mine has authoritys on the back of his F-150 and he likes them in the snow. That about all I know..
