The illusive black dash,...

Recommended Posts

I know that many of the "Chief" trim packages for the MJ and XJ came with black interiors, but I believe only on the 1984-1987 model years. I know that automan will likely chime in to clarify :D

Elusive.

My 87 Pioneer has factory black interior with buckets.

My4 cylinder 87 bare-bones base package (not even a cigarette lighter or dash clock) had a black interior with a bench (ZJ seats now), but not sure if it was factory or swapped in at some point in time.

I must confess. I am not sure I understand what the infatuation is with the black interior. Why is it so sought after?? When we were shopping for our red chief, I wanted tan.

I don't understand either. I have always wanted red interior. I was very happy to see it in mine when I went to look at it to buy!!

87 Sportruck - Black interior

88 MJ Chief - Blue interior

What about black?

It's Sinister, Bad *ss , Cool.

The 87 is going to have a red/black theme.

Anybody remember when the glass guy tore up my black dash?

And he couldn't understand why I was so pissed.

Kind of like black and chrome on my Harley....... :dunno:

Just somethin about black.......

I want the black dash to go with the 99 door panels on the dump humper project,... Black is so much easier to match up over grey.

or just get grey 99 door panels..

I have grey, they don't match so I was hoping to find black parts

grey '99 door panels match grey mj interior.

however, agate grey '99 door panels are actually closer to black.

How much of a pain in the arse is it to pull the dash out like in those pics? I'm already planning on redoing the doors so that's not an issue, my seat is torn to $#!& so I'm either gonna do a blackish saddle blanket on it or re-vinyl it, but I never actually looked to take the dash out that far. I'm really just being lazy right now by not going outside and looking.
