moleslayer
When I bought my Comanche, it had been repainted and there were no name plates on the fenders (Comanche logo/emblem) I would like to put some back on, but I have seen 2 types floating around. Some are in all block caps: COMANCHE Some are upper and lower in the font of the Jeep logo on the header: Comanche What is the difference in the two? when were they used? btm24
i think that the block type are the older like 86 and the other is from newer ones 88+. I'm not sure about the years tho :dunno: i like the non block type and i bought one from the junk yard for $5 and i also got the 4.0 liter one for the tail gate for $10 on ebay. since i only got 1 "comanche" emblem i put it on the tailgate also. hope i was a help Brandon
Boilermaker
The all caps were used in 1986. The lower case letters were used from 1987-1992. Pretty much the extent of the difference as far as i know. Also in 1986 the levels of trim (X, XLS, Custom) were a little different than the later years. If i'm mistaken on the dates, i'm sure someone will set things straight.

Matt1971
This is the style on my 87 2wd sport, btw anyone know the best way to clean these up and get the black touched up?
glundblad
My '87 chief did not come with any Comanche logo. Only 4x4 on the b-piller and 4.0 on the tailgate.
fiatslug87
I've seen both nameplate styles on '87s at the JY, probably depends when the old ones ran out and the build date. However, on page 56.05.5 of the 1986/87 Jeep Parts Catalog (dated 1/88), COMANCHE is listed as '86 and Comanche is listed as '87.
