mjtjnj
Hey Guys, Pulled the carpet and padding out of my MJ a year ago, it's in a bag in my basement. Carpet is a little shoddy, the padding is good, and thick, except where some was rusty and wrecked over the driver's side floor. I'm trying to de-clutter, and I'm not ready to put it back in yet. My interior is maroon ("cordovan") and none of the aftermarket places sell that color. Just thinking of getting some black carpet new, tossing out my old stuff, undercoating the floor after I do the repairs, but is there a product out there that will give the sound deadening and heat-resistance the original stuff has? I just have a big bag of mouse food at this point, and would love to throw it away! Thanks Tom
Darren
Any fabric or carpet store will have something similar to lay under your carpet. It's pretty cheap too.
Eagle
Or you could substitute something like DynaMat, which is excellent for sound control.
Automan2164
AMC MJ needs to chime in here... He used some sort of house wrap that was similar to dynamat, but came in rolls, had an aluminum backer, and a sticky rubber adhesive surface. Rob L. Thanks Tom Apologies in advance for the HUGE pic, but this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/86-92-Je ... ccessories Lists an MJ carpet in your choice of the following colors for $114: Are none of those colors 'close enough' to the AMC Cordovan? For the price I was surprised to read: All carpets (unless specified otherwise) include jute padding.
gl1200aman
I haven't opened mine up yet but I did order from this guy. He had a number listed and I called him to discuss it and make sure he knew what I had/needed. I ordered and paid for it and received it in less than a week. I will open the box and see what it looks like when i get back friday.

akamcbird
that protecto wrap is like a roll of tape, and would cost a bundle, a 9" x 100' x 25mil roll is bout $40. get a big roll of bituthane for roofing (grace ice and water shield) 3' x 75' x 40mil for bout $135 and layer it.
