jpcomanche Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 One of the guys in my club has 20 acres of tight wooded trails. We went out Saturday for a day full of winching and body damage. After the couple of inches of snow we got last week melted, it left a greasy, slimey mess. Normally a hill like this isn't much of a problem, but there was just no traction. The low point of the day was when I was the first to try a new, twisty hill climb. I ended up with the back driver's side of my cab against a tree with nowhere to go but up. The results:  Some more pictures are here: http://www.twincityoffroad.com/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=November-19%2C-2005
pingpong Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 NIce... :D I am one of those ppl who believes in beating my rig as well  I notice you don't have a frontlocker  that would have probrabl;y made that hill a lil easier  Here is a link to some videos of where the club I belong too goes. http://besrk.zippyvideos.com/gallery.z My rig is the black MJ :D
pingpong Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Thats a CJ5 that belongs to a guy named Eddie. It was rolling on 42's, leafs in the front, and a 4link with coil overs in the rear. He is getting ready to rebuild his rig with a 3 link upfront, and full hydro steering. He ended up cracking his transmision case on this last ride. he got something like 4 foot of air, talk about insanity. Patrick
pingpong Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 I like that dovetailed full size  :D
jpcomanche Posted November 22, 2005 Author Posted November 22, 2005 I like that dovetailed full size  :D Yeah, that was a pretty cool rig. Different than what I'm used to whelling with. On the Same hill that I bashed my truck on, he hit his driver's door hard enough to break the rolled down window! We knew it was slick when he couldn't get traction with his 40" Boggers.
pingpong Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Eddie added some more video clips to that link. It has a good one of me ripping off my tail light guards  I am getting ready to dovetail my rig, or remove the bed, just not sure which will be faster to complete :D BTW removing your doors prevents breaking glass
88swampedmj Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 not to be an @$$ man but whats up with that thing behind your cab?
jpcomanche Posted November 23, 2005 Author Posted November 23, 2005 It's a Lund Fastback. It matches my Lund visor!
DirtyComanche Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 It's a Lund Fastback. It matches my Lund visor! Didn't those things come stock? My 86 had one, unfortunatly I was in a sledgehammering mood and it seemed like the best option.
jpcomanche Posted November 23, 2005 Author Posted November 23, 2005 I'm not sure. I've heard that they were a factory option but I haven't been able to confirm it. They were on it when I bought it. I guess they're pretty hard to find now if you wanted one.
pingpong Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I think they were made by Lund and a few other makers back in the day. Some are still available for other trucks, so if you want one call different manufacturers and see if they have any available. Patrick
Pete M Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I don't remember any of my dealership brochures mentioning the fastback, so I'm betting it's purely aftermarket (though it could be dealership-installed). Jeep on! --Pete
whowey Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Hmmm, that MJ looks a whole lot like one on Rusty's off-road website... Right down to the flare.
jpcomanche Posted November 24, 2005 Author Posted November 24, 2005 You mean this one? That's mine about 4 years ago. It used to be a pretty truck.
88swampedmj Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 its is cool ive just never seen those fastback things before.. but my comanche is going to be "ugly" and bare body.. i hope to get pics of it lifted and wheeling soon..
