zzze Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Hello, I am in the process of building up my dd 88 comanche pioneer. I will have to travel a LOT of miles soon for college and i wanted to get a cold air intake kit for my comanche... do you know if a cold air for a cherokee of a similar year will fit?
wolfpackjeeper Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Any kit for a cherokee will fit, however they are crap imho. They stilll pull hot air from the engine compartment. Better off saving the coin for something else.
87Chief Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 See how much they are at your local junkyard... If it's in good shape, and cheap, go for it.
ComancheKid45 Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I recenty just took mine off and installed the stock intake system and seriously just gained 3 mpg back on this last tank of fuel with no other changes.....cone filters suck IMO, and don't filter very well at all :ack:
Oizarod115 Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 if you're wanting better gas mileage pull your foot out of the throttle to the point that people honk and pass you at every red-light. seriously, i drove this way for about 6 months (EXTREME self control) because of a handful of tickets and the gas price spike and saw an increase from 16.5 up to a maximum of 19.5 around town (no interstate, all congested metro area traffic) now i've got my volvo that gets 23-24 no matter what you do.
Darren Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 You could buy this and adapt it to your Renix motor. I really like the design. http://www.thor4x4.com/html/xj_cowl_induction.html or just build one.

kro10000 Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 well if a cold air is not the best option what is? i have the 4.0L , 5-speed, and 2 wd snorkle
75sv1 Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Might look at the MADXJ site. They do have a write up on a cold air intake. I don't think cone filters are the problem. It is that you are sucking in the hot air from the engine. Tom
