Lenard
Just curious, on the police package XJ's, what was different on them other than the speedo went to 120 mph, and they had a High Idle switch? Why did those speedo's go to 120?

Bragging rights! I don't know about you, but I never felt safe over 85mph in my Cherokee. Plus it didn't have the power to push the brick through the air. They also had 10 inch drums out back to help you stop from that unobtainable speed.

streetjeep2.5
Twernt a Jeep, but in 1960's was in a 64 GTO doing over 120, maybe 130 for about 10 miles. Slowed to 70 when we came to a bridge over the bay entrance at North Bend, Oregon that is tall enough in the center for almost all ships to pass under without lowering anything. Right front tire (bias ply) blew into a gazillion pieces. NEVER wanted to go that fast again!
Justin_k
Had the cherokee governing at 140 kmh (85?) so about 95 with my tires added in Recently spliced a switch into a wire going out from my transfercase speed reader, no more speedo when I hit the switch but goodbye governor!
