mvusse
MO, I just read the specs on your 5" lift. It says 4.5" springs plus 0.75 spacers. That 0.75 spacer may make the difference. The problems I posted about was 4.5" springs only. 1.75" spacers more than solved it, 0.75 might have been enough (it seems to be in your case) but I used what I happened to have laying around. trail grenade
i went soa on the rear of my comanche using like new 4x4 springs and a 2" shackle and only got 3 inches of lift and i can flex to the stock bumpstops with 33s and never rub :dunno:
jpnjim
28mpg out of a 4.0??? I get exactly 1/2 that, in a good running, low mileage 2wd 4.0L MJ, on 30's.
offroader461
so Ill need to buy coils its not like G-cherokee coils on a TJ wow with a SOA ill need to lift the front 6.5'' so it means ill have to change the LCA and UCA ......... :wall: there goes the low budget And track bar... and sway bar links... and shocks... and brake lines... and you'll want big tires... so you'll want to regear... I'm running 33's on my truck with 3.07 gears and i still get 28 mpg straight 6 renix 5-spd my truck turns them just fine. doubt that....i ran 33's w/3.07 and got 12mpg...have you changed the speedometer gear for the tire size change so that you are actually getting the correct odometer reading instead of one thats way off....i have 4.10's now and get roughly 22MPG...plus the comanche 4.0 5spd from the factory was only rated at 23MPG
mnkyboy
its only rated 15/20MPG with the new system, it was 17/22MPG with the old ratings http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/calculat ... =1&id=7172 28mpg is as good as alot of 4cyl economy cars from the same era.
Kittrell
I never seem to get the general obsession with going SOA. :hmm: Come on Pete...... You can't take one look at this picture and tell me why most peoples' first thought is going SOA?
Pete M
because my 86's exhaust is rotting away? :D That photo was taken before the muffler exploded. I've since torn out the rest of the tetanus-inducing tube.
87Chief
Hey for the tires.. If you don't mind switching tires around alot, you could use your 35s on your YJ on your MJ.. If the bolt pattern is right... I know on the TJ it's 5x4.5 not sure on YJ or MJ. Just a thought.

Pete M
I do appreciate the clean lines of an SOA. but properly lifting a truck 6" is usually beyond the guy who's going SOA because "it's cheap".
