mfpdm
So, the kid got rearended today in the 86 MJ. He's fine it just bent the bumper down but no body damage or anything else. The bumper was already bent a little so it wasn't perfect. I'm not too worried about it but I can't decide whether to play the nice guy it's Christmas time and let it go or should I play the grinch and try to get a new bumper out of it. OEM would be nice but would not be found so I would have to go with an aftermarket. FEY's run about $125. Is it worth the hassle because really, I wouldn't get a new bumper and would just pocket the cash. It's dark so don't tell me, :needpics: :dunno:

mfpdm
I guess I should have mentioned that it wasn't his fault. Me being nice or not is to the person that hit him.

1990 Pioneer 4x4
Are you talking about having your kid pay-up or the person who caused the wreck?

Geonovast
Why would he make his kid pay up for getting rear ended? That's like the one traffic incident that's not even partially your fault.
mfpdm
No I'm not making my kid pay up. I was refering to the person that hit him. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be a nice guy but I'm leaving it up to him to take care of. Afterall he is an adult now. Sometimes good karma goes a long way.
mfpdm
Here's a pic. Like I said, it was already bent some so it's no big deal. The drop hitch actually saved it from being worse. It has two bars on the back of it which tie into the frame. Had thought about removing it several times but didn't. Anyhow, he decided to be nice and let them off the hook for any damages. AmJay
I had an FEY bumper. It looked nice but rusted out in about 2 years. In Michigan you can collect $450.00 from the person who was at fault. It's called Mini-torte(sp?). We have no fault insurance and it's supose to cover your deductable or out of pocket expenses. Insurance companies will pay the mini-torte if you have a rider on your insurance. I didn't know that until I had to fork out $450.00 on top of paying the deductable for my own repairs. dasbulliwagen
Chock the front tires, jack the rear end way up, put a 4x4 board under the hitch, and let the truck back down, then get in the bed and jump on it till the bumper is straight again. 64 Cheyenne
Tis the season....... If I was to let the person who was at fault "off", I would at least ask the person to buy a few toys etc. that can be donated to a charity, or do something in the spirit of the season for a needy person or organization.
