you don't have a ba10/5 in your truck, you've got a 2wd ax-5... pukegoats go behind the 4.0.. and yes the xmember should be the same jamminz.gif

in short, yes.....the Xmember is the same part for the AX4/5, BA10/5 and the AW4. Only the AX15 takes a different one.

You'll most likely have to move the Xmember up to the front set of holes on the framerails, and you may or may not have to pound out the outer studs on the rails. Rig the whole driveline up and mount the Xmember to the tranny mount, then jack it all up and see which mounting holes line up.

I don't know this for sure but i was told the YJ ax5&231 is supposed to be clocked wrong and won't go into an MJ/XJ without notching the floorboard.

yup, the t-case will be rotated up a bit. I've got a TJ ax-15 and 231 in my 88 and the clearance is tight, but no contact yet. :D I did nip off a small tab of aluminum just in case.

The YJ 231 is clocked slightly different, but not "wrong." My '88 MJ Chief with AX-15 and 231 came to me equipped with a YJ tranny and transfer case. The doofus left theYJ transfer case shifter and butchered the floor to make it work, but that was just cutting a hole for the lever. Doesn't appear that any "massaging" of the tranny tunnel was needed to allow for the clocking. It might vary slightly by vehicle but the worse case would be a couple of taps with a hammer.

AX-15 doesn't take a different crossmember. IIRC it even uses the same mount as the AW-4

it uses the same tranny mount as the AW4, but it sits about 1" higher on the crossmember. The specific AX15 crossmember is notched out in the center where the mount attaches (I've got a pic I'll post up when I find it). Without the notched out section, the TC linkage doesn't align at all, and the cat converter/intermediate pipe/flange is pushed up flush with the floorboard.

You can ghetto it and it'll still work, or you can install a TC drop to make up the difference, but the correct way is to use the crossmemeber designed to work specifically with the AX15

here's a shot of the AX15 crossmember in my MJ. See the notched out part in the center where the tranny mount attaches....
