pilotblake
After a few years I finally splurged and bought a winch bumper for my truck. I was greatly enjoying my new bumper when I found out my Grandfather had a Warn Bellevue(bellview) winch that he bought as an add on to his 70's Chevy pickup. So over thanksgiving the wife and I went to Denver met up with some friends and family then went to cheyenne to pick up the winch. Drove all the way home with a HUGE smile on my face only to find out when I got home that my bumper would in no way hold this beauty of a winch. I had a hunch but figured i could make it fit.....nope. My wife said I should get rid of it, but I know it has only been used maybe twice, works great now, and is the same thing as the 8274 only originally cable operated.............However I am still looking for a more compact winch for my truck. If I would have aquired this winch first I would have built a bumper around it. The line speed alone is incredible. Sorry, had to vent.....plus there might be a winch bumper for sale in the near future.

DirtyComanche
Most bumpers aren't sized for the 8274 and similar winches.
pilotblake
Yeah I know, I never figured I would get my hands on an 8274 that didn't need alot of work. The bumper was made by KARNAGE Offroad, the price was cheaper than what I could build it for.
87Warrior
What a bummer. At least you are now the proud owner of a genuine piece of history :brows: I have had great luck with the Superwinch EPi9.0 on my TJ. Some parts made across the pond, but assembled in the USA. The same unit (not mine though!) would look great on your truck

jbhill
y not add a 2in reciever hitch to the front and rear, get the mounting bracket for the winch, problem solved. and you can move it front or rear.

IMO this is a silly way to use a winch, picture your truck where it needs to be winched out of, IE mud, off rocks, blah blah, now you have to get out and dig out your winch setup, lug it to the back/front, over the rocks through the mud and hook it up. hopefully your receiver is not below the water or mud line. it just seams like an impractical way to go about things, but I guess if you need a tug back wards and only have a front mounted winch your screwed. jimoshel
I hooked my winch up so it would push instead of pull. Now if I could just get it to work. Think I need a stiffer cable.
pilotblake
I will look into the superwinch. I thought about the deal to make the winch go into the receiver hitch, but in all honestly this isn't the winch for that setup either. This thing is big akward and HEAVY. I will find some use for this beauty.
