possum
My friend of 10 years isn't doing too well. She may not last too long. This is really painful for me because I have never had to do anything like this. Here is a pic of me and her. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Eagle
Dunno what to say. Been there more than once, and it gets harder -- not easier -- every time. God speed.
87Warrior
Dunno what to say. Been there more than once, and it gets harder -- not easier -- every time. Agreed. Thats a good looking pooch you have there. My advice is to not do anything radical if needed to get painful years out of her. But sometimes those crazy dogs can pop back to normal in no time flat with little intervention. Good luck with her and remember that she is your best friend

For not knowing what to say eagle.. you said it pretty well! :shake: I agree, I too have lost a couple of my best friends and family. Never easy, but its a part of life. What doesnt kill you, makes you stronger. seems a bit cliche, but the older I get the truer it becomes. CW
Eagle
I hope it doesn't come to this, at least for awhile, but I will mention that: Whoever said real men don't cry ... lied. Any man who can't or won't cry when he loses a loyal buddy isn't much of a man in my book.
HOrnbrod
I grew up with a female Dalmation named Flag during my teen years a long time ago. Looked a lot like your Cleo. She lived 14 years and I never got over the loss, even now. But she instilled in me a love of dogs that I'll always have as she was the first best friend I ever had. I've had many best canine friends since, and it's always very tough when you lose one. Best wishes for Cleo, feel for ya mate.
possum
Thank you all for the kind words. Last night she seemed to take a turn for the better and she was pretty much her old self this morning. But we will take it one day at a time. Gonna get an order of fries to share with her tonight (it's the only people food she gets). But thank you all again.

When my second lab was diagnosed with cancer, That was just before christmas 1990. Naturally I went for a second opinion. It was even more dire than the first one. Ultimately he was given a year to live. He lasted 54 weeks... excuse me.... that was 1991.. there are tears in my eyes now recounting this... he didn't eat one bite more of dog food from that day on. He died in my brothers arms as we drove him to the Vet. That was January 9, 1991 @ 08:45 hrs. Right now it feels like it was yeaterday.... :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( CW
