streetjeep2.5
I cannot begin the fathom what it takes to run an automobile company these days. In the 1950's and 60's it was a lot simpler, but today you have world wide competition. To try and satisfy the likes and dislikes of billions of people in order to hopefully gain some of them as loyal customers all the while being aware of the constant new technology and incorporating it into a vehicle to make it safer, more reliable, more efficient, and at the same time not abandoning what has made customers happy in the past, plus dealing with people like many of us; MJ AND XJ AND 4.0 FOREVER! and then those who say GREAT MILEAGE AND GREENER! has got to be daunting! I would have to say, a CEO and board of directors who can do that, and maybe pull a company like Chrysler/Jeep up from oblivion and accomplish this, is worth some decent bucks. I know I couldn't do it! :ack:

glundblad
Not to be the party pooper but I could care less what Chrysler does. The dream was shattered in 2001 when they stopped making the Cherokee. The shattered dream was then flushed down the toilet when they stopped putting the 4.0 in the jeep line. :fs1: I'll be driving my "old" jeeps until I'm buried in them. *sigh* Damnit I miss my CJ-7. :D I remember feeling the same way a few years ago. I am almost 47 years old and I can remember thinking Jeep died when Chryser bought them. To this day it still bothers me to get MOPAR parts for a Jeep. dasbulliwagen
I remember feeling the same way a few years ago. I am almost 47 years old and I can remember thinking Jeep died when Chryser bought them. To this day it still bothers me to get MOPAR parts for a Jeep. How many companies have owned Jeep since its inception? Several! And thats not including the comapnies like Ford that built them under contract for WWII. Started out with Willys, Then Rambler, which turned into AMC, then Chysler, then Daimler, then Cerberus, and now Fiat? I'm sure I got part of that wrong or omitted something, but if youre going to be nostalgic for previous owners, how far back do you want to go? It is just another chapter in Jeeps colorful history that will continue to change into the forseeable future. We should just be lucky that the Jeep name is still a sought after brand that is not going to go away like so many others have recently.Whos to say that someone won't be saying 20 years from now about how much better Jeeps were when they were still just with chrysler??? :rotfl2:
dunl
Kaiser, not Rambler.....a fact that still amuses me, as they were built to fight the German army. :D
pilotblake
Bought the wife an 08 "Jeep green" Liberty with the "Sky Slider", now have over 15,000 miles on it and love it. Granted it shows little heritage to the cherokee, but out the window at a quick glance I see a little cherokee, mixed with the foreign cherokee styling. There traction control system is awesome. If you come around the corner alittle fast on gravel and you start to slide, it brakes the appropriate tire and you are straight again. I have tested it in several situations (you know for the safety of my wife :brows: ) and it feels very stable. The low geared downhill brake assist is something I wish my MJ had, it is great. Yes......We have a policy that covers everything to do with the slider for repairs. Also since it is the wifes DD I have no plans to do any modifications (even though I have seen some sweet lifted liberties) to it, so it will be an every couple years/mileage trade deal. I think it is hard to keep these newer vehicles like the older vehicles. Way to many limited life electronics and fluff items to fail down the road. I have a hard time buying a sunroof in a vehicle I have any inclination to keep for an extended time.

I got 67k miles on my company 08 Jeep Green KK. Gotta say it has taken quite a bit of abuse in stride (drive it like I stole it every day). Still runs like it did with 6 miles on it. It pays quite a bit of homage to the XJ. Its still unibody, albeit much stronger/stiffer, its got an 8.25 rear end / Dana 30 in front and is available with Command and Select-trac. It's how they should have redesigned the XJ, except they should have kept the 4.0L and solid front axle of course. Although, I've read its not too difficult to get rid of the IFS. You can tell it wasn’t professionally done, so I serious doubt it is a legit option for future production.

Obama is too young in inexperience, and by this too much under the influence of those who adopted in the 1960's and 70's the socialist mantra of that generation, to lead this country. He is in over his head. I wonder, in a large part is he being used? After enduring 8 years of a ventriloquist puppet we finally get somebody with intelligence and you think he is being used? :rotfl2: Willy i gota ask, who was running the "puppet"?
