MancheKid86 Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 hmmm, i know I'm not crazy you must have edited it out, for your floor boards, use this stuff http://forums.off-road.com/jeep-short-w ... -work.html
1990 Pioneer 4x4 Posted January 8, 2011 Author Posted January 8, 2011 Just the rear, but also cut one spring off the front coil and raised (lowered) the leaf spring mounts in the rear. :D
cody4359 Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 cheapass! u buy a brand new truck then hack the coils instead of buyin lowered ones :rotfl2: lol i had a ranger that i welded up the diff, heated the coils til it was on the bumps the took all but 1 leaf out so it was on the bumps. ya rode like crap but it looked cool. you take the manche out much?
1990 Pioneer 4x4 Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 hmmm,i know I'm not crazy you must have edited it out, for your floor boards, use this stuff http://forums.off-road.com/jeep-short-w ... -work.html I did edit the floor boards... That Permatex rust stuff looks like a good option, but i think i'd use POR 15 with some kind of bedliner materal on top. I wonder if there is any reason why I wouldn't want to replace the carpet/mat with some kind of bed liner material. Like would I have an issue with too much heat on the tins?
treklight Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I used Rust Bullet to coat my roof, really easy to work with and is a durable finish. Just make sure you have good ventilation and wear gloves. I love that rear bumper/   Don't let it sit again, Comanches hate to not be driven.

MancheKid86 Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 cheapass! u buy a brand new truck then hack the coils instead of buyin lowered ones :rotfl2: lol i had a ranger that i welded up the diff, heated the coils til it was on the bumps the took all but 1 leaf out so it was on the bumps. ya rode like crap but it looked cool. you take the manche out much? sometimes with coils you buy, you cannot get the proper spring rate you desire, so some times, you need to cut them. i would recommend only cut them if you know what you are doing  your coils, when you cut them, became super stiff, thats all, didnt do the proper math
cody4359 Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 i knew what i was doin lol, free lowering kit when i heated them  . i was going for bumpstops, not ride quality. also i was 18 so i had no $$ and didnt care about ride. lower spring=firmer ride, weather its a heated coils, cut coils, or the proper lowering coils they won't ride factory like.
1990 Pioneer 4x4 Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 It’s been sitting in my garage, needing a bunch of work. :wrench: Your MJ project is looking good.
Paul Bruchal Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Nice build  I really like your rear bumper! Did you build it or buy it? If you bought it, where can I find one?

mountainman Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 WEAK! The baby needs to know what its like to ride in the comanche before its even born. Better bust it out and tend to its needs. 1 year parked is BAD news.
