Charlie Chaplin and Oliver Hardy (Laurel and Hardy) had them before they even knew about Hitler. No reason to believe it wasn't around before but now it has a bad name. I prefer to go with the comical slant.

I prefer to go with the comical slant. I just call it that because while both comedians had the same style upper-lip caterpillar, some people might not get the reference as well, so I used hitler.
