aemsee
Why is it hitting the floor?
pug
I just converted from 2wd to 4wd. It is hitting on the drivers side. Everything shifts allright just a bad vibration were the tc is hitting
DirtyComanche
Did you use a YJ/TJ transmission? They're clocked a little different. Anyways, some of the casting on the top is totally useless. There's some funny shaped stuff that's just kinda 'there'. I'd have no issue grinding that off. Don't take off any material that is around the bolt holes though. A better option might just be to take a piece of 2x4 (drift) and a sledge hammer; pound a little clearance into the area that rubs. The wood will prevent there from being sharp dents, especially if you radius it nicely before hand. The metal will stretch quite a bit.

IrnGynt
Re-clocking it is another option.
JeepcoMJ
Re-clocking it is another option. not really. he'd have to buy a clocking ring, or redrill all of the holes. if he resorted to a clocking ring, he'd end up having to buy an extension seal for the trans output to keep it sealed up. as far as grinding it off....based on the fact that the question was asked, I would suggest to do exactly what DirtyComanche said and modify the floor pan with a hammer and block of wood. Pete M
I don't really have a good photo of it, but I lopped off the one weird tab sticking out and it was enough for my particular circumstances. Mine is a 99 TJ trans/t-case but with a custom crossmember so I'm not sure if it directly relates. If this didn't work, the hammer was the next step. And for the heck of it, here's a photo showing the difference between the TJ/YJ and the MJ/XJ clocking:
Darren
Just get out the hammer and make some room.
reson46
Just get out the hammer and make some room. :agree: A hammer can make enough room to fit a second transfer case. Willy
