.............ZJ's only had the 5.2 318 for a v-8 option..........

And the 5.9.

Yep, figured that was the gimmie since we had just talked about it... ;)

I wouldn't buy it just cause the kid thinks it has a body lift

:agree:

If you can't even get the details right, most likely it wasn't taken very good care of, or someone got taken adavntage of. As in: "For $300 I can put a body lift on this for you... Sucker."

I wonder if the guys who keep saying you don't have room in the ZJ for three kids have actually tried it????

No, but my good friend and Jeep buddy had to sell his when they had their second child. They now have a third and have bought a mini-van.

Right now our budget would be no more than 4k. Around this area in Oregon, that will get me a nice ZJ since the WJ's start around 6k used. I'm not planning on going 4x4'ing or towing anything so the 4.7 seems like a decent choice.

This is the second or third time you've made reference to the 4.7L while indicating you can't or won't be buying a WJ. The 4.7L engine was first introduced in 1999 in the WJ. You cannot get a ZJ with a 4.7L -- it's a 4.0L I-6, or a 5.2L or 5.9L V8. That's it -- no other choices.

I would put the original tires back on though and get rid of the body lift. Going to contact the seller because he doesn't say what year it is. I'd also like to know what trasnfer case it has.

The 30" tires will be fine on it. They are hardly any bigger than 235/75s, just a fraction of an inch wider. I agree on ditching the lift, though. Should be easy to remove -- probably four coil spacers.

My guess is it's a 93. The 93 didn't have flip-up glass in the tailgate, and this one doesn't seem to have hinges on the top of the rear glass.

I thought the flip up glass didn't start until 96?

Thanks Eagle for the clarification on the ZJ / WJ engine choice. The seller apparently doesn't want cash now, but a trade instead. I wasn't interested in buying from him anyways, I won't do business with people who respond with slang, bad spelling, and piss poor language. Total lack of disrepect for others. :headpop:

The search continues.

5.9 for the 98 model year only

Yes, and it was the first time the Silver stars were offered as a wheel option.

I'm still going to urge finding a non-messed with one. Start fresh, not with someone's retarded lovechild. Find a modification virgin. Nothing worse than chasing some idiots gremlins.

I agree, I actually deduct from the price if the vehicle has been lifted or otherwise modified.

I am not exactly sure why the Grand Cherokee is perceived to be too small for a family of 5. It feels much larger inside than an XJ. They made Grand Cherokee much wider. I feel it is a perfect size. I own two tahoes and sometimes feel they are too large for the Wal-Mart parking lot but I pull a boat and live on dirt roads. They do real well for that.

There are laws for mini van owners that have caused me not to even consider purchasing one. First and foremost is the requirement that you need to wear black socks and dress shoes while wearing shorts and a tee shirt.

And even though I should know better than to mess with my DD, I would still like to see it with 15" black steels, and a 2" budget lift and 31's.

Here's my 96' with 4.0/242/2 inch budget boost/soft 8's and 30's

If you get a ZJ with a 5.2 check out the tranny good, see if it's been rebuilt with the proper parts. They do not hold up well as Chrysler used some junk seals & O-rings in it :ack: Our ZJ went through 2 and my Ram with a 5.2 went through one. The guy at the tranny shop told me that it was the best tranny Chrysler made for him, gave him job security :D
