89eliminator Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 i am going to put a 2 inch lift in the front of my comanche and was wondering if 31 in tires would fit. the back is staying the same height
89eliminator Posted August 2, 2006 Author Posted August 2, 2006 there probably going to be on american racing rims
Pete M Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 It'll be real tight and will most likely rub on the fenders.
88swampedmj Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 i say if your going through the trouble of lifting it 2inches....you might as well lift it 6 haha :brows: ...but thats just me
BIGHEEP Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 i say if your going through the trouble of lifting it 2inches....you might as well lift it 6 haha :brows: ...but thats just me X2 I lifted my XJ 3 times before I got to 6" of lift. Go as big as you can for see yourself wanting to go. That way you will only have to lift it twice. First.... To the hight you for see being the limit. Second.... To the actual limit, when you relize the old limit wasn't high enough. :D
89eliminator Posted August 2, 2006 Author Posted August 2, 2006 i am just trying to make a reliable daily driver so i don't want to go overboard. plus it is two wheel drive at the moment so i don't want to go soa in the back because it wouldn't look right. if and when i convert it, i will go with the 5 in lift
Pete M Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 30s should fit better with the aftermarket rims. 31s should fit with stock-type rims.
87manche Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 31's will fit with stock suspension on a 4WD model. and stock rims. ust rubs a bit on the LCA's, and that's easily fixed with 2 washers in the steering stops.
pingpong Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Everything can fit with a few wel placed swipes with a cut off wheel :brows:
Oizarod115 Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Everything can fit with a few wel placed swipes with a cut off wheel :brows: when i read the title of this thread my first thought was... whatever it is... its not a question of WILL it fit its a question of how hard its gonna be to force it to fit. great minds think alike huh pong?
pingpong Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 When I first put my 2" BB on Pong, I went and put some 33's on him  I went through a few cutoff wheels though :brows: this is pong on 31's and a 2"bb
87manche Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 my junk is going to get 33's on 3" soon. 33x10.5 TSLs on stock rims so I can tuck them in the fenders. Yes, I own a sawzall. it will be a shame to cut up a rust free MJ. Don't look Eagle.
Eagle Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Don't look Eagle. Okay. Warn me when posting pictures of the carnage. Barbarian!
87manche Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 I told myself I wouldn't cut the fenders until they got body damage, but I want 33's. I promise I'll make it look nice :)
ORCA Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 i say if your going through the trouble of lifting it 2inches....you might as well lift it 6 haha :brows: ...but thats just me While I agree 6" is way cooler than 2"...I disagree with what you say. Lifting a MJ/XJ only 2" (like with the teraflex 2" BB - coil spacers and extened shakles) you don't even need new shocks, not to mention possible SYE, new rear drive shaft, CA's, etc. Teraflex 2" Budget Boost: My first lift was that teraflex 2" BB and I ran that for years. The beauty of it was then I got the RE 5.5" (not LA) and was able to run both - netting about 7-8" of lift :brows: Therefore, I most definetly recommend only going 2". And I recommend using the teraflex kit (only $130: http://www.4wd.com/newsite/shop/product ... =491&mid=n )

87manche Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 A lift shackle for a cherokee will not produce the advertised lift. MJ shackles are bigger than XJ shackles from the factory. If you want to go shackles look at full sized chevy drop shackles.
ORCA Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 I told myself I wouldn't cut the fenders until they got body damage, but I want 33's. I promise I'll make it look nice :) No body damage yet? :???: Your not trying hard enough 87' haha... A lift shackle for a cherokee will not produce the advertised lift. MJ shackles are bigger than XJ shackles from the factory. If you want to go shackles look at full sized chevy drop shackles. $#!& your right. I forgot. Well you could always get a AAL, but i'm not too fond of them.

I promise I'll make it look nice :) No body damage yet? :???: Your not trying hard enough 87' haha... Oh there's body damage, but nothing severe, and nothing that couldn't easily be hammered out (rear quarters) It's just a shame that I'm going to be cutting into rust free undamaged fenders and bedsides. Oh well. 33's are on the must have list now. 33's and 3" ought to be fun. I may got with 32x9.5's if I have to cut too much. Pizza cutters are cool.
Pete M Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 What are you doing for gears? Stock gears and 33s suck.
87manche Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 I've got 3.73's, so it will still suck, but not as much as 3.07's. 3.73's with 31's is about stock ratio. so 32's or 33's is like going from stock to 31's. I plan on doing an 8.8 or something similar next year, so the clutch is just gonna have to man up, becaue I'm not dumping any money into the 35 for gears.
Pete M Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 ...because I'm not dumping any money into the 35... Smart man. :D
87manche Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 ...because I'm not dumping any money into the 35... Smart man. :D well, I payed $300 for a D30/D35 combo geared 3.73. I did it mostly for the D30, cause it was non disco with 297 u-joints, and it was going to cost that much in parts to make my original d30 not suck. I got the full case detroit as part of the deal, so that's how I ended up with another turdy five.
pingpong Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 I think I was the first one to run the full size chevy shackles :D That was like 2 yrs ago... found out by mistake that it would work :driving: The memories Back on topic.... My first BB was bought from one of the adds in the magazines, and it was shackles and spacers and was like 85 bucks, used them for a yr then sold them for 75 :D Keep in mind that a shackle lift will move your tire forward, and could cause clearance issues on the front part of the rear wheel well :brows:
