glundblad Posted March 24, 2009 Share Posted March 24, 2009 After removing my carpet from my comanche, I decided to purchase new. Has anyone purchased replacement carpets from the vendors on Ebay? Do they they fit pretty well? I found one from a company called The Trim Store and another called Auto Carpet Originals. Does anyone have any experience with either of these guys? terrawombat Posted March 24, 2009 Share Posted March 24, 2009 Unless you go with factory OEM carpet, you're going to have to do some trimming. In my opinion, regardless of what the description says about how plush or what thread count their particular carpet has - it's all the same. I wouldn't be surprised if 75% of the aftermarket carpet companies all got their carpet from the same manufacturing plant. Boilermaker Posted March 24, 2009 Share Posted March 24, 2009 There was a similar discussion in SW2's floorboards thread, starting on page 2: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14878&start=15 The ACC aftermarket carpet i have doesn't look that bad even tho its baggy in a couple of places...but black does hide a lot. I was very careful to cut away as little as possible; just enough so all cuts are hidden by trim or the center console. Compared to OEM, it feels cheap and i don't have any confidence it will last very long without help from some floor mats. If new OEM carpet was available, i'd be the first in line. MrSimon Posted March 25, 2009 Share Posted March 25, 2009 I bought the carpet kit from JC Whitney. The quality of the carpet is pretty nice, and it was about the right shape. I still had a bit of trimming to do and it still doesn't fit quite right. I put down some heavy duty mats and you don't notice it. If you are a perfectionist .... you won't be happy with 99% of the carpet kits out there. If you realize that this is a 20 year old truck that cost less than a nice bicycle .... you'll be thrilled. Gjeep Posted March 30, 2009 Share Posted March 30, 2009 Good looking rig. I bought and returned 2 aftermarket carpets before finding a mfg that had a good mold and thick quality carpet.
