Why the hate on fiberglass?

Yeah, it's not as durable, but the only times that I think it would ever be an issue is when I'm standing, dacing, or screwing on my hood.

And for the record, the steel one on my XJ is now all dented.

I dented my GMCs hood from dancing on it. smiley_cry.gif I was sad.

I saw one of those on an XJ in town. It actually looked quite stylish, and I'm no ricer!

I have got one on my MJ right now. It is a functional cowl hood, so it reduces engine compartment temperatures. I never like the way some of the XJ owners used one+ inch spacers to raise the rear of the hood up to get the same effect. It has the same lines as the original hood and the same mounting holes. The hood looks pretty tough on the truck to boot. The down sides - It is damn exspensive for a "look," even if it does keep it a little cooler. Over-all it is a bit smaller than the original, I guess to ensure the fit. It would have to have a 1/4'' or so added to the front to match the factory gap. Not really a big deal, but I was a bit PO when I mounted it and thinking about the P$.

I just got done looking at your pics, and your right. It does look awesome on your truck.

Anyone on here ever tried to make one?? I know you can get the insert for it...

The bad thing about the inserts are that they are usally plastic or fiberglass and the hood is metal. The problem with this is the metal expands different from the cowl causing any type of bondo or whatever you use to cover the screws and edge to crack. If you don't use anything to kinda make it look like it belongs ( like body compound) it looks really BAD. That is my experiece with them someone else may have had better luck.
