Mine isn’t running right and hasn’t had a tune up yet. It idles at 1500 rpms so that doesn’t help. Its gets 15mpg as is, with 4:10’s 35” tires. My goal is to get it in the low 20’s. I am about to swap to an HO head, intake, 62mm throttle body, & better exhaust. I think that should help drastically. O yeah, ill give it a tune up also. :clapping:

I'm usually between 9-13....this is mainly just driving around town

30x9.50x15 on Crager D Windows and my Speedo is NOT corrected....so mine may be alittle better than I'm reading

Exactly. I believe that lots of folks actually get somewhat better MPG than they think they do. You are actually traveling 6% further in your case than you thought you were (assuming your stock size was 225/75/15. ;) Here's a great link to see how much a tire size change affects things:

I had an 88 XJ 4.0 5-speed, 3.07 rear that I bought brand new (wish I'd kept it) that I used to get 19 city and 24 hwy without trying too hard. comanche.gif

that cite is a little off on there speedo... http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalcul ... ion=submit ... my truck is only like 6mph off from stock. so if the speed limit is 40 i try and keep the speedo and 35 (so I'm actually doing 40)

IMO i think they should just do away with speed limits i mean who needs em? :rotf:

just got back from a 1600 mile round trip..... 26mpg's at 70 mph, 21mpg at 70-75 going through the mountains, and 23mpg at 75-77.

Move to Montana then. During daylight hours there are stretches of highway where there speed limit is "reasonable and prudent". Seriously. :D

My last two full tanks gave me about the same thing. Between 15 and 16 mpg (15.6).

Truck is a 91 High Output with a stock engine. Transmission is an AW4 with a 3.55, 2 WHD and 235/75 x 15 tires. Long bed with a Snug Top shell. Weigh with me in it is around 3800 lbs (I think).

This included a couple of hundred miles of freeway driving out of about 700 miles.

Have made no effort to correct odometer reading for the larger tires. If stock tire size is 195/75 x 15, then I cover about 9% more distance that the odometer says. That would put my fuel consumption up to about 17 MPG. Reasonable. Think my dad got about 17 mpg on his new 1956 Chevy V8 with PowerGlide.

13-13.5 in desert running (20-30mph, 4WD, low range) and 15.5-16 hiway (60-70mph, 2WD), but mine runs cool (~165-175F). Tire pressure @ 38psi and 3.07 gears; other details in my sigline. And mileage is corrected by GPS readings.

And I have the camper to increase wind resistance, so I guess I'm not doing too bad. :brows:
