Friggin cold

Yesterday morning I had to take a bath in 10 gallons of hot water I carried from the kitchen to my bathtub as the hot water line to the bathtub had frozen. That was only -14 degrees.

Did get the pipe thawed out and prevented it from happening again, though.

This morning it's -20 and still dropping. Suburban won't start. Won't even crank, just a click from the solenoid. Coolant is not frozen, and I just drove it 7 hours ago.

Comanche started up, though, although the starter was lugging slowly enough that I was wondering for a bit if it would.

Guess car batteries like the cold as much as I do.

I was just reading a weather blog on wunderground.com that there was a record low set this morning in Maine at -50

It is +38 down here right now and that is too cold for me.

Gotta love the MJ though...it starts when the newer stuff won't...

It was +32 when I got up this morning - I thought I would die :rotf: . Jeans, two pairs of socks, T-shirt, Rugby shirt, hoodie, gloves, ball cap {thanks Brent}, and a windbreaker just to be able to work outside today. OK, I heard that . . . who called me a wimp?

Thought they said it was going to warm up today  Cold water line to the kitchen froze up over night but knew that was going to happen :wall: checked last night and the temp in the end of the basement where the kitchen is was at 35* around 10pm  So much for having the basement at walkout level :ack:

Everything started but just could not get the garage to heat right :hmm: so short day working YJ

Well, the Suburban definitely has a problem, as it is 17 degrees now and it still don't start. Had it hooked up to a charger and no change.

Tomorrow I will take the starter and battery out to have them tested, and replace if defective. Got a warranty on both. Hope it is one or the other, cause if not I don't know what it would be. And no fixed Suburban means no trade for a Cherokee.

We made it down to -21 this morning, supposed to be a low of +20 tomorrow morning. Shorts and T-shirt weather.

i say this alot, check the cables. if you have a bad cable, you might not have enough amps getting to the starter. you can still get some power, but not enough to start anything. if the cable is totally shot, then you won't get anything. it's those that go bad, but aren't totally shot that give you trouble.

worth a check anyway. :D
