gas skid

So when i bought my MJ i got under it and it had the factory skid for the trsfercase and I'm wondering is the one on my gas tank original too or is it and addon from the prev owner?

Dose anyone else have them.. i can't recall any pic of them on anyone's rig

Good luck. Everybody wants one (including me) and nobody wants to sell one.

 

Transfer case skids are a dime-a-dozen fron Cherokees, so are the front skid plates. Gas tank skid plates do not interchange, though, so they are rare. If you have one, most likely it came with it stock.

If it's steel, it's probably original. If it's plastic, it's a gravel shield, not a skid plate.

I found a skid plate for my MJ with no problem and they had another I'm sure. But I can't find the transfer case or the motor skid plates.

 

Maybe we can work something out

My 90 has one and someday it'll end up on my 88 (which is the offroad toy, but started life as a 2wd). Seems tough enough to take on the occasional log. but also seems like it would hold on to mud and create a rust-prone zone for the gas tank. :dunno:

I try to keep mine clean after the mud for that exact reason

Anybody got any pictures of their gas tank skid plate? Also pics of how it attaches? I would eventually like to build one and am looking for ideas. ;)
