86 to 88 MJ

Recommended Posts

Am i right in thinking that most of the parts(not engine related) from a 86 model can be used for the 88's. I think I'm fixing to buy a lwb and not hold out anymore for the short..who knows i may decide to shorten it myself down the road. jamminz.gif

Depending on the drivetrains involved, only the interior, doors, axles, suspension, and front fenders may interchange. The axles may have a better gear ratio, but that depends on the truck you buy. I unknowingly bought an 86 with the 2.8L for parts and just about nothing can be used on my 88. Good thing the truck still runs. :D

The fenders are the same. The header panel should be the same as an '88. The different header panel was when Chrysler changed the grill to make the trim strip above it an integral part of the grille rather than a separate strip. That also required a change to the header panel. Not sure if that change was made in '89 or '90.

Seriously if you want I can try and make you an animated one that slowly slideshows through a few pics. There is a file size limit, but I can play around and see about squeezing 3 pics in. They everybody can be happy like Mr. B...

I erred a little on the side of cautious so this is only 2/3 of the possible file size. I can use the space to get rid of some of the grainyness if you like it otherwise.

I went back and made a slow version with about 10 seconds between each pic... kind of a little less manic version
