Hey all. Ive been lurking for a month or so, ever since there was a change that I would get my first MJ. Well about 2 weeks ago we (my dad and I) went to pick it up at some kids house about an hour (or 70mi) away. Then 2 days later I went to the RMV and got the title for it. I've started to take it apart a little...but havent done much. The most damage ive done so far was accidentaly completly draining the engine of oil (changed filter...didnt notice that the gasket from the old filter was still there, put new one in, didnt seat properly and then catastrophe...6qts of oil on the ground  please be nice, i tried to clean it up but most of it had already sunk in.) well w/o furter blabbing and embarrasing myself from stupid/harmful mistakes here are the pics.

Here it is!

Under the hood

D44 baby!

And I will be putting the front end on from this...

its a 1988, 4x4 (NP 231) 4.0, AW4, D44/D30, long bed. not too shabby for $125 + $50 for trailer rental. mostly just the hood, fenders, and bumper will be transfered from the XJ to the MJ, then I'm going to have it painted. i hope to spend more time here, making this neat little community 1 member larger. thanks! :USAflag:

i might take the doors off of the XJ, but they are quite rusty at the bottom. if i can some how repair the doors then they might go in. and yes, the cab is REALLY dented on the drivers side. I'm definately gonna use a hammer and piece of wood. the stack will go...I'm hoping to get a flowmaster 40 series in there. and yes you're right there is no AC in there...just an empty pulley.

one thing that ive recently discovered is that its an AMC jeep. not a Chrysler becuase the key says American Motors on it and there are parts that say AMC on it. I'm quite happy about that!

That doesn't really mean anything. My 87 XJ said AMC on the keys, had the the AMC logo on the instument panel and seat belt buckles also. If its an 88 and has a 4.0L it is without a doubt a Chrysler Jeep.

Oh yeah BTW.... don't feel bad about the oil filter thing, my boss did the same thing to his 04 Silverado. :D

Is that an a/c delete MJ. I see what looks like an idler pulley, but I am not sure.. need more info

I hope to put a compressor on that idler pulley bracket someday and do my OBA/.

Or move my alternator up there.

I love the stack and the overhead lights... but mostly because it's not mine. :D

I just wanted to chime in that I put 3 quarts of royal purple on my garage floor because the fill tube slipped out of the AX5 and I didn't check once I started filling because I was sitting on my cab floor trying not to get gored by bolts.

I got a nice big stain and it cost me lots of $$$. banana.gif
