  1. I would really like to put these in my 97 wrangler because I want to increase my MPG would this be a good option for it?
  2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visocica
  3. Thompson or Ron Paul
  4. Yeah it is open or locked just like an ARB or OX. The problem with OX is the cable is really testy you have to mount it just right and finding a place to mount it is pretty hard. Easier in an MJ but not so easy in a crammed TJ. ARB you just have to do all the air lines and junk. Which everyone loves them they are tried and true. But I really don't want to put one in my Wrangler. Even with the benefits of having a compressor. Plus who needs one when everyone has them and you can get your tires filled up by someone on the trail. As far as the Eaton is concerned a lot of the first ones have had problems but I have heard they are getting better and so I am interested in just a flip of a switch.
  5. but I am not fond of the 80's year Jeeps they have a lot of little issues and problem with them. If you are going to do a full resto-sort of mod just get the cleanest body. But I think that is a pretty fair trade. If not for price. Well it will take you how many hours and how much is your time worth?? That is the trade off for him. Is this guy gonna help you do it? It takes a while to do the whole drivetrain swap. I think that is the most time consuming part. Also the whole hookup for transfer case was pretty tough for me. If I did it again I would have got the one that just mounts and comes off the TCASE instead of trying to do it like stock. The axle doesn't take long at all. But that is a pretty time consuming knuckly bashing work.
  6. using the Eaton E Locker?? Kind of another option to ARB lockers because it is about the same price if not a little less?? I want to know the good bad and ugly of it. Thanks
  7. Yeah I would just use the shafts and get rid of that crappy disconnect. Don't downgrade to low pinion. But it is direct bolt on.
  8. Have you seen where the 97 A/C system is on a TJ? It is like way in the way. Plus for several other bolt on things that I was thinking like many supercharger options it is in the way. Plus it just sucks many people damage the line that runs above the radiator to the a/c. Mine is damage granted I bought this TJ used but it has a bunch of rubbing going on in the aluminum lines. I figure moving it out of the way is the best way and the 2001 TJ has it I think either above the steering pump or below probably above it but you can even see it. Or as you can see this is what I have http://www.stu-offroad.com/engine/belt/belt-1.htm This is what I want: http://www.stu-offroad.com/engine/belt/belt-2.htm Granted 98 TJ and mine are the same 4.0 with a/c and the 2004 is the same range I am looking for.
  9. Well I am just curious this is an unrelated mj question more of a TJ question so if anyone has a TJ and has done this I would appreciate anything you may have heard. But anyways 97 and I think to 99 or 00 TJ's have the A/C system routed in a really stupid way at least I think so it is above the alternator. But in the 2001 and later they have it mounted down below the steering pump Is there any way that you can just get an 01 a/c system and just relocate it? I haven't found anything that could help me online so anyones guesses would be appreciated.

  12. They are lower than that in Utah. I work for Mountain America Credit Union. You can have usually 2-3 inquires on your credit a year to not affect it also. Depends on what they use. Most mortgage companies require all three bureaus, Experian rep told me 2-3 inquiries will not drop your score. But I would look into a Credit Union for a better rate. We are really good, but are closest location is in Alburque. What kind of mortgage is this a purchase or refi? Interest rates were dropping on homes at least in this market, but they are afraid of inflation within the next year in America so the federal reserve may look to raise them again (SCARY!!) By lower I mean by like a quarter or so. But that is pretty good so you must have good credit. We have promotions like at our credit union on how much you have invested in the Credit union and you can get like discounts of a quarter to a half.
  13. Well my pal has a 2.5 Liter Cherokee. It is a 91 the same year as mine and they sit kind of low and are just like the ones put in MJ's
  14. For the seats you have to find a 2.5 Liter XJ they are like direct bolt on and they don't sit you as high if you did a little modifying like moving the brackets from the bench onto the donor XJ seats. Which I did and I kind of miss the bench but at least people will stop trying to cram in the front seat with ya and get some ace on ace action I hated that in high school. For the A/C it could be a lot of things I would get a voltmeter and see what is going on in there.
  15. Yeah we really have to be adults and I think they should impose heavier fines and even like community service in that area. It makes you so upset that people do this. I probably learned my lesson when I was a kid when there was these guys camping down the ridge from us. They were spotlighting, shooting does and just causing ruccus. I remember seeing a dead doe that they shot that they just left out there. I realized then that if we don't be responsible than these morons will just destroy everything in their path. Needless to say they got all the their trucks impounded, atv's guns etc. They got like 20,000 dollars worth of fines because they poached so badly in this area. It really affected the wildlife in that area. It really saddens me to this day. Tread lightly and remember leave an area cleaner than you left it. Don't ever poach as well. But they may need to close the areas so that the habitat can recover and I believe in that. Maybe in a few years they will open it up. Too bad that the government has to make decisions for us.
  16. Hey I love my truck it just sits in the driveway right now, because I blew the motor finally. But if someone offered me 5000 on the spot ding ding. Because really down the road he would never sell it for that much. It is hard to gauge value on cars especially jeeps you may have put thousands of hours in it and maybe even thousands of dollars. But you are not going to get what you put into in $$$$. Only muscles cars have that kind of fluctuating value. But if you put it up for 9000 no one would buy that because hey you could get a decent MJ for 1000 or less put maybe 2 grand and get what you got. But I agree that it is very flattering. I would have s*** myself if someone offered me that much for my truck. Because I have maybe 2500 in my truck. Got it free from my Dad. But man the amount of wheeling I have done and getting stuck those memories are priceless and that is why I wouldn't sell for anything less than 5000 right now. Because that is like 3000 more than what it is worth.

    Gas Prices?

3.05 at costco in Salt Lake. They have ran out on Premium which kind of makes the Unleaded pumps run weird so it is kind of pain to get gas there. I can't drive my beloved TJ so my wife gets to have all the fun and I have to drive her ford focus much better because I travel more. The TJ just gets drove and parked.
  18. You are flaming naxja for flaming you. How funny, I really don't like them either. I enjoy this site which I don't post a lot. Because Comanches are an acquired flavor. I have probably had more fun when my manche was a two wheel drive and went on the stupidest things that a two wheel drive shouldn't do. But I love that truck and it is my full project now. XJ's are just excellent parts vehicles :D The most produced Jeep ever really is a Cheapokee. :brows:
  19. Yeah I would tend to agree with you but if your vehicle is older I would still say don't go from oil to full synthetic I don't believe that there can be that much change in how they produce it. Probably wrong though. Also if your motor is really old and has been running regular oil for 150,000 miles it would be irregular. I have never had dirty oil after four wheeling. I really just change it either every three months or 3000 miles whichever comes first. Filter should always be changed on every oil change as well. Doesn't matter how much you pay on that thing. But the oil you can be brand specific. I really don't like Penzoil or any of the in store brands.
  20. Don't go full synthetic right away but switch to a blend I have always like quaker state. Or even valvoline. But I was told to switch to a synthetic blend then go completely synthetic in like a year.
  21. They actually have a lot of replacement MJ parts. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Vehi ... 13/c-10101
  22. I would say check your spark plug wires. But that is what stopped the ticking on my motor.
  23. Just curious how many times did you fill your tank up on this trip?
  24. This is just a guy and you can just search in many forums and a lot of people will tell you there is a difference in how your vehicle runs. http://www.jeepin.com/features/throttlebody/ I compare it to this: Waited way too long to change the spark plugs/tune up in my 2.5 L MJ probably had been the same ones before the rebuild of it because my dad was cheap (who I bought my MJ off of). So I did and it ran like a different vehicle. My brother said you wouldn't be able to tell period well I drove that sucker everyday and let me tell you a difference was felt in response, idle, mpg, etc. Now for throttle body spacer that Jeepers Creepers thing is great put it on the 97 it is a little more responsive, 1-2 increase in MPG, idle is a lot smooter, this is on a 87xxx mile engine, and stock air filter. Next mod is air filter haven't made up my mind on what kind probably Brute force. The only thing you have to remember about perfomance mods is that Dyno is conducted at sea level, and whether it is HP at the wheels or not.
  25. This is quite an interesting subject. I have never heard of anyone defending a Renix system. Almost like defending the pugeot tranny. In your guys knowledge of the things. But my friend rebuilt the whole thing still was in the garage on the weekends while we were out on the trail. He had to get it running by Monday. I respect them for the time they were in Jeeps. I just respectfully  I guess. MPG is really debateable though and I will never concede that. What kind of MPG are you looking at in a manche? Cherokee or Wrangler? Depends on gearing what kind of tranny what mods you have done. It is just not money because TIME is money mr trump. I love bolt on bought parts. Do it right once=pay for it up front. And to think all I thought I said was that the 4.0 achieved engineering perfection in 2001 even more so in the LJ. I really like the 4.0 I have in my 97 as well. But it was designed better in 2001.
