  1. I was going to drag it out till April 1 but figured that was a bit much. :) Plans for the rest of the build are the same. I'm hoping to get something post worthy done this weekend. The price was basically what the boy had into it. He did get a real nice 2012 Ford Escape limited. Has all kinds of bells and whistles.
  2. Well I may have left out one minor detail to the story. The person that bought the truck was........ Me! :)
  3. Might be the clutch on the fan. My TJ had one go bad and it sounded close to that.
  4. Ok, here is the short version. The truck actually belong to my son. His Mazda pickup became unreliable and with a new job, he needed dependable transportation. To make the down payment on something that would last him a good while, he sold the truck and everything related to it. He got 4K for it all. End of story.
  5. The truck got sold. :(
  6. Dang, I missed the vote. I would have recommended this: I think the pink really makes the black pop! J/K :D Nice score on the seats. Those clean up well with a little work and a trip through the washing machine.
  7. Nah, just easing back into to things. Don't want to overwhelm everybody with a bunch of post so they think I'm a post lady of the night. :laughin: edit: so the new software doesn't allow some words and edits them. Replace "lady of the night" with a "w" word that rimes with door.
  8. Well it's about time to knock off the dust and get back to work on this. I plan on slowly getting back into this build and get her on the road. Figured if I could do one or two things a week I'll pick up momentum as I go. No new pics yet but very soon. I have a few oddly related task, like dusting her off, cleaning out around and underneath where she sits, and deciphering what these random piles of parts went to.
  9. Thanks for the welcome back. A lot has changed with the site. It's going to take a while to figure out all the new functions. Like where the hell are the emoticons?
  10. Its amazing what you might find cleaning out the old garage. Well it's been a long time since I've posted on here. Not sure what was more amazing. Me remembering my passwords to here and Photobucket or actually thinking of getting off my lazy butt and finishing this thing. I got burned out on working on it and went and did a lot of house projects.(None of them are quite finished either.) I'm now tired of that and feel like I can feed the addiction again. My goal is to start out with getting at least one thing done a week and go from there. A big shout out to all and love what you've done to the ole forum.
  11. It took a while to figure that pic out but it has dual steering stabilizers. One on the tie rod and one on the drag link. Would like to see a pic of the whole set up. They might of thought it needed two with those 33's. Very sweet truck anyhow. Nice job Rob. You can tell them I would store it for them so they wouldn't have to worry about it being in the way. :brows:
  12. Care to elaborate. Did you upgrade the harness or just plug them into the stock harness?
  13. Check out this topic: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=19695 You want to look at the HO to RENIX diagram lower in the thread.
  14. :agree: There are plenty of MJs out there that you can rescue from the boneyard to do what you want to with but very few out there that are in that nice of shape. Besides, with the way gas prices are going, that 4cyl is worth gold.
  15. mfpdm

    Need a mini console

Have one listed here: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=31875 I have a gray one just like it but it is not in as good of shape.
  16. Bought an 09 2dr civic a year ago and really love it. 32-37 mpg depending on how heavy my foot is. Way better than my 13 mpg TJ. Here is a link that has some interesting articles about different cars and there cost and reliability. http://www.mainstreet.com/hottopics/wheels This one is on the link above and talks about used cars to consider. http://www.mainstreet.com/article/smart ... buying-new
  17. It was good talking with you but did you have to dime me out on the dust. Just kidding. Sorry I talked your ears off but I haven't spoke comanche to anyone in awhile and in a way you help motivate me into pushing forward plus you also helped get some stuff out of my garage. I can almost start working in there again. I really should kick my own a$$ for letting it get this way. However, I'm already starting to get back in the swing of things. I pick up a rebuilt 242 tcase with a Tom Woods SYE. Came with the front part of the rear drive shaft. It had low miles and only a couple of mild wheeling trips before the owner pulled the drive train from his XJ and replaced it with all chevy stuff. Great deal for $300. Now I just have to clean it up like I did with the first 242 I bought. Still have some work to get done around the house and yard but I plan to spend some time on the MJ as while. Shooting on maybe getting it on the road this summer.
  18. Correct. I have another 242. With the one I just bought makes 2. Pick it up tonight. Case was rebuilt with the Tom Woods SYE kit and a new chain. Came with the front part of a TWs driveshaft. Not bad for $300.
  19. I knew it was still a hack n tap and I too have heard nothing but good things about them. I was just checking if anyone was running one in their MJ and could give me some insight. I'm going to check it out and as long as it wasn't abused, I'll probably get it. Even if the tcase is not the greatest, I have one I can swap the SYE over to.
  20. Well, I finally think I'm ready to start thinking Jeeps again. Got burned out there for awhile. Anyhow, I'm looking at maybe picking up a 242 that has been rebuilt and fitted with a Tom woods SYE kit. Any pros or cons with the SYE with 4.5 to 5 inch lift. I had already picked up a 242 for the build and was thinking of doing the SYE kit. What would be a good price to pay for the rebuilt one with SYE?
  21. Always happy to help out a fellow board member. Doors look good as does the rest of the truck.
  22. I used the krylon plastic stuff and wasn't to impressed with it. Ok on something that will never be touched but on the lower trim it would scratch off. Plus as someone else mentioned the color does not match the greatest with older colors. The b-pillars, lower door to carpet trim, and back window piece were painted in this one. I think it was recommended before by someone that the best stuff out there is SEM Vinyl And Plastic Color Coat. It seems to have good reviews by most.
  23. I thought the export had that badge. :hmm: Did the 84 and 85 XJ have an AMC badge?
  24. On its way. :redX: Thanks Pete.
  25. I wonder if you could take one made for a Ford or Chevy and cut it down to fit. There are several manufacturers out there for them for the full-size guys. LMC being one. I've seen them on ebay not too long ago for the comanche. Also, nice find. I would have to sleep in it if I brought it home but it would be worth it. May want to send this guy some pics and info for his site. https://sites.google.com/site/streetcomanche/
